Nicaschool

Nicaschool Nicaschool provides Mikito Indian child refugees with english language lessons as well as meals five days a week for these children.

I founded Nicaschool for the express purpose of providing education and food to child refugees within Nicaragua. Thousands of indigenous people primarily the Miskito and Mayangna tribes have been displaced or killed by colonizers coming from western Nicaragua. The Nicaraguan state at best stands idle in the face of this violence and at worse may be complicit with the violent seizure of indigenous

lands. The entire situation is complicated and dangerous. Being Miskito myself I could not stand idly by I had to do something. In armed conflict, it is often children who suffer the most I wanted to do something to alleviate this suffering and hopefully empower Miskito children displaced by the conflict. This is what Nicaschool embodies!

A devastating hurricane has ravaged Central America with another hurricane on its way. The extent of this ongoing disaster is almost overwhelming with Tens of Thousands desperately needing aid. I as an individual I couldn’t hope to help everyone but I can and will help the 70 past and present students of Nicaschool. As the director and cofounder of Nicaschool Jezzell Violeta Mendoza Rivas and I will do everything in our power to help our students all of which have lost their homes. We will do this by providing food, clean water, education and if funding allows help rebuilding. I am asking all past and present supporters of Nicaschool to please lend their support in what is our greatest hour of need.
