Working Hard and Playing Hard: That’s a Week at Acton! 🤩
Another week, and the final session of the year, in true Acton style! Our learners prove that the most important lessons happen when effort is combined with freedom and fun.
✨ Spark Studio: Our youngest learners became architects 🏗️. For their “Design Your Playground” project, they worked alongside .ar (the same architects who designed our campus!) to dream up and plan the perfect play area. THE CHALLENGE: making the space not only fun but accesible for everyone. That’s learning with real-world purpose!
🚀 Discovery Studio: History comes alive! Our older learners are currently experiencing the tax restrictions and lack of freedoms faced by the American colonies. Will they be brave enough to declare independence? 🤔 (Or, at least, will they be able to use the bathroom without asking “King George” 👑 for permission? Stay tuned for the outcome!)
We wrapped up the week with a field trip to the Japanese Park 🏞️. It was a day of free play where we analyzed how nature and design influence our fun and learners find inspiration for their playground project. Because the most important lessons aren’t just found in books!

We’ve just started the Newton’s Toy Workshop Quest, where through hands-on projects learners build different toys to explore the laws of physics — including their own balloon-powered cars! 🎈🚘
This first week, they’re exploring gravity, thrust, push, and momentum by building cardboard cars and experimenting with different types of movement.
This hands-on approach, combined with thoughtful questions like “What made your car go?” or “What would you change next time?”, truly helps them grasp complex ideas.
