Alejandra M. Alcántara took three flights from her small town of Amealco in the heart of Mexico to come to the Gaspé Peninsula. Come and meet Alejandra and taste the molé she brought. She would like to meet you and remember to use you Spanish - she doesn’t speak French or English.
If you would like to visit her in Mexico and learn Spanish away from the 5 star resorts and learn about the history and culture of the Mexicans living in the countryside join us on Thursday at 5pm at Namasté café.

New Project, New hope. Vamos México si se puede

Since 2005, Ave Nicaragüita has offered Spanish courses for foreigners and equally important has served as a volunteer supporting organization. Since our foundation, we committed to develop an alternative business project in which we would promote ways to increase cultural exchange between foreigners interested in Nicaragua, and locals willing to participate in such exchange.

We believe that learning a foreign language is meaningful for anyone in today's globalized world, and particularly, in the city of Granada, whose development plan relies to a large extent on the tourist industry. So, through years with the support of volunteers, we have been capable to help under-served children at several schools and other adolescents to learn English, German and French. Many second-language students and volunteers met, studied and enjoyed each other at Centro Juan Pablo II, in the northern part of the city, and at times in our own facilities; as well as in other tourist destination in Granada and nearby.

Given to the current socio-political crisis in Nicaragua, we are suspending our operations until further notice. Our main office in Calle Estrada, near the market, where many of the worst events have occurred, is now closed. And yes, there were attempts to vandalize our building-office. Fortunately, we are moving to a safer place (and yes, we brought the cats, Toby and Mike, with us).

Desde 2005, Ave Nicaragüita ofrece cursos de español para extranjeros e, igualmente importante, ha servido como organización de apoyo a voluntarios. Desde nuestra fundación, nos comprometimos a desarrollar un proyecto empresarial alternativo en el que promovemos formas de aumentar el intercambio cultural entre los extranjeros interesados ​​en Nicaragua y los locales dispuestos a participar de dicho intercambio.

Creemos que aprender un idioma extranjero es significativo para cualquier persona en un mundo globalizado, y particularmente, en la ciudad de Granada, cuyo plan de desarrollo depende en gran medida de la industria turística. Entonces, a través de años con el apoyo de voluntarios, hemos podido ayudar a niños desatendidos en varias escuelas y otros adolescentes a aprender inglés, alemán y francés. Muchos estudiantes y voluntarios de segunda lengua se encontraron, estudiaron y disfrutaron mutuamente en el Centro Juan Pablo II, en la parte norte de la ciudad, y en ocasiones en nuestras propias instalaciones; así como en otros destinos turísticos de Granada y alrededores.

Dada la actual crisis sociopolítica en Nicaragua, estamos suspendiendo nuestras operaciones hasta nuevo aviso. Cerramos nuestra oficina principal que se encuentra en la Calle Estrada, cerca del mercado, donde ocurrieron muchos de los peores eventos. Y sí, hubo intentos de vandalizar nuestra oficina. Afortunadamente, nos mudamos a un lugar más seguro (y sí, trajimos con nosotros a los gatos, Toby y Mike).
