INAUGURAL SPEECH OF PRESIDENT SANI BABANGIMI FOLLOWING HIS SWEARING IN AS PRESIDENT NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUILDING STUDENTS (NAOBS) ABU ZARIA.

Distinguished ladies & gentlemen, i would like to recognise the presence of the HOD Dr.Dikko kado,project coordinator Engr(Dr) A.Abdulazeez,registration officer mu'awiya Abubakar,security personnel here prsnt,naobs ielcom members,fellow aluta cmrds,brodas n sistas gud day to u ol.
I am immensely grateful to Almighty Allah Who has preserved us to witness dis day 16th January, 2017 which marks d inauguration day of new executive councils of national association of building stdnts (naobs) abu zaria chapter.
I would like to thank our humble supporters who voted n believe in us evn wen d cause seemed to b tough.
I salute Abdulgafar jamiu'kunley' for display of his statesmanship through out d election & i wl also thank doz hu did nt vote for us but contributed to make d election truely strong & most competitive.
After being sworn a few minutes ago,i sani babangimi intend to keep my oath & serve as President to ol ABU building students.
I am for everyone & for everybody.
Today will mark d beginning of a brighter future for our noble association by God grace n i solicit for ur indulgence prayers n extreme support as we begin to discharge d burden shouldered on us.
Our adminstration will ensure that it is fully committed to d flg:
- improving d welfarism of stdnts by equipping classes to create a conducive atmosphere for lectures,night reading,writing xams,tutorials,etc. More are to go for excursion & providin a printin & photocopyin business centre in d dpt in order to giv a subsidy to ol bldg stdnts.
-we will ensure an existence of an extraordinary binding rlshp btw d Association & the following levels: dpt,faculty, ABUSRC,ABU ALUMNI,& IT'S Mother NIOB.
-we will b there to stand firmly for our stdnts whenever their Rights & oda privileges are denied.
-we shall b fully committed to fighting corruption. Secret agents & locks to each class doors shall b provided to improve security of our classes & d dpt facilities in d nights.

As a President, i wl nt seat back & jst watch after delegating duties to committees & individuals, i wl engage myself to have a teamwork & to make sure the right thing is done as accurately as expected.
I sincerely & wholeheartedly thank you all for giving me the mandate which has proven to me that of course I'm man of the people.

Finally at the end,i sincerely appreciate the efforts of the ielcom/ctc, security division, our vibrant comrades and all other personnel that have contributed to the process of the concluded fair,credible, & peaceful election.

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL STUDENTS

"Academic excellence is overrated!
Did I just say that? Oh, yes, I said it. Being top of your class
does not necessarily guarantee that you will be at the top of
life. You could graduate as the best student in Finance but it
doesn't mean you will make more money than everybody
else. The best graduating Law student does not necessarily
become the best lawyer. The fact is life requires more than
the ability to understand a concept, memorize it and
reproduce it in an exam. School rewards people for their
memory. Life rewards people for their imagination. School
rewards caution, life rewards daring. School hails those who
live by the rules. Life exalts those who break the rules and
set new ones. So do I mean people shouldn't study hard in
school? Oh, no, you should. But don't sacrifice every other
thing on the altar of First Class. Don't limit yourself to the
classroom. Do something practical.
Take a leadership position.
Start a business and fail. That's a better Entrepreneurship
101.
Join or start a club.
Contest an election and lose. It will teach something
Political Science 101 will not teach you.
Attend a seminar.
Read books outside the scope of your course.
Go on missions and win a soul for eternal rewards...
Do something you believe in!
Think less of becoming an excellent student but think more
of becoming an excellent person. Make the world ur
classroom!"
