Here are common mistakes Nigerian teachers make:

1/ Writing Generic Summaries

“I am a hardworking and dedicated teacher…”
This says nothing.

Schools want:

✔ Results
✔ Specialization
✔ Certification
✔ Impact

Be specific.

2/ Not Including Important Certifications like the TRCN Certification
If you’re certified, it should be visible immediately. Some schools won’t even shortlist without it.

3/ Listing Responsibilities Without Results

“Taught Mathematics.”
That’s basic.

Instead write: “Improved WAEC Mathematics pass rate by 28%.”
Numbers build credibility.

4/ No Mention of WAEC / NECO Experience

In Nigeria, exam performance matters. If you’ve prepared students successfully, highlight it clearly.
