The National Association of Nigerian Maritime Students (NANMS) successfully hosted its National Dinner and Award Night on Friday, 28th November 2025, bringing together distinguished stakeholders, industry leaders, students, and partners from across Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The event was a celebration of excellence, service, leadership, and commitment to maritime development, as deserving dignitaries and outstanding students were honoured with Awards of Recognition and Excellence for their immense contributions to the growth of the maritime industry and the empowerment of Nigerian youths and students.

A major highlight of the night was the induction of notable personalities into the NANMS Hall of Fame, in recognition of their exceptional impact, selfless service, and unwavering support for maritime education and student development. The inductees include:
• Mrs. Theodora Nwaeze – for her trailblazing leadership, mentorship, and consistent support for maritime students and cadets.
• Mrs. Egwuatu Elsie – for her outstanding contributions to maritime development and youth empowerment.
• Hon. Samuel O. Kappo – for his dedication to student affairs, advocacy, and continuous support for student-related initiatives.
• Mrs. Koni Duniya – for her remarkable leadership in advancing female participation and welfare within the maritime sector.

The induction into the NANMS Hall of Fame stands as the association’s highest honour, reserved for individuals whose legacies have positively shaped the maritime industry and inspired the next generation of maritime professionals.

The dinner and award night also served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between students and industry stakeholders, reaffirming NANMS’ commitment to advocating for improved training, welfare, and career opportunities for Nigerian maritime students.

The leadership of NANMS expressed deep appreciation to all guests, partners, sponsors, and supporters whose presence and contributions made the event a resounding success, reaffirming the shared vision of building a stronger, inclusive, and globally competitive maritime sector in Nigeria.
