🎯 FRIDAY ENGLISH CHALLENGE!

Can you choose the correct sentence? πŸ‘€

❌ Neither of the students have submitted the assignment.

or

βœ… Neither of the students has submitted the assignment.

🧠 QUICK RULE:

Neither means not one and not the other, so it normally takes a singular verb.

βœ… Neither of the boys is ready.
βœ… Neither answer is correct.
βœ… Neither of them has arrived.

🚨 WAEC/JAMB TRAP!

Don’t be distracted by the plural noun after of.

Neither of the students β†’ HAS
Not HAVE.

🎯 YOUR TURN!

Choose the correct option:

β€œNeither of the answers ___ correct.”

A. is
B. are

πŸ’¬ Drop your answer in the comments! πŸ‘‡

πŸ“Œ Save this for your English revision.

🧠 WEDNESDAY GRAMMAR FIX!

🚨 β€œBETWEEN YOU AND I” β€” RIGHT OR WRONG?

You hear it all the time:

❌ Between you and I, this exam was difficult.

But in standard English:

βœ… Between you and me, this exam was difficult.

πŸ”‘ THE RULE:

After a preposition such as between, with, for, to, from, and with, use the object pronoun.

πŸ‘‰ between you and me
πŸ‘‰ with him and her
πŸ‘‰ for you and me
πŸ‘‰ to him and me

🎯 YOUR TURN!

Which is correct?

β€œThis secret is just between you and ___.”

A. I
B. me

πŸ’¬ Drop your answer in the comments! πŸ‘‡

πŸ“Œ WAEC/JAMB TIP: Pronoun usage is a small grammar area that can easily appear in objective questions.

Learn the rule. Avoid the trap. Get the mark! πŸŽ―πŸ“š

πŸ” THE FEAR OF TRUSTING AGAIN HAS A NAME…

πŸ“š Pistanthrophobia β€” a difficulty or fear of trusting people, often because of past experiences such as betrayal, disappointment, or being hurt.

πŸ“ Example:
β€œAfter being betrayed several times, she found it difficult to trust new people.”

πŸ’‘ Easy way to remember it:
Pistanthrophobia = β€œI want to trust you, but my past makes it difficult.”

✨ Learn uncommon words. Understand their meanings. Use them confidently.

πŸ’¬ Have you heard this word before?

STOP SAYING β€œI AGREE” ALL THE TIME! 😏

If you want to sound more natural, confident and fluent in English, upgrade your everyday expressions.

Instead of:

❌ β€œI agree with you.”

Try:

✨ β€œI couldn’t agree more.”
β†’ I completely agree.

✨ β€œThat’s exactly how I see it.”
β†’ I have the same opinion.

✨ β€œYou’ve got a point there.”
β†’ What you said makes sense.

✨ β€œI see where you’re coming from.”
β†’ I understand your perspective.

✨ β€œThat’s a fair point.”
β†’ Your argument is reasonable.

πŸ—£οΈ REAL CONVERSATION

A: β€œI think students should be allowed to use AI as a learning tool.”

B: β€œI see where you’re coming from. However, I think they should be taught how to use it responsibly.”

πŸ‘† That sounds much more natural than:
β€œI agree. I agree with you.”

🎯 YOUR TURN!

How would you respond naturally to this?

β€œLearning English is more about communicating than memorising grammar rules.”

A. I agree.
B. I couldn’t agree more.
C. That’s exactly how I see it.

πŸ’¬ Choose B or C and tell me why!

πŸ“Œ Save this post and use one of these expressions in your next English conversation.

Speak less like a textbook.
Speak more like a real English speaker. πŸ—£οΈβœ¨

VERB:Transitive Verb πŸ“•

A transitive verb is a verb that needs a direct object to complete its meaning.

Simple formula:

Subject + Transitive Verb + Object

Examples:

* She bought a book.
β†’ bought what? a book πŸ“–
* The boy kicked the ball.
β†’ kicked what? the ball ⚽
* They built a house.
β†’ built what? a house 🏠
* The teacher praised the student.
β†’ praised whom? the student

πŸ”‘ Easy trick

After the verb, ask β€œwhat?” or β€œwhom?”

If you can get a direct object, the verb is transitive.

Ada ate the food.
Ate what? β†’ the food βœ…
Therefore, ate is transitive.

Compare with an intransitive verb:

The baby slept.

β€œ Slept what?” ❌
There is no direct object.

So slept is intransitive.

🎯 Exam tip

In WAEC/JAMB questions, don’t assume a verb is always transitive or always intransitive. The same verb can be transitive in one sentence and intransitive in another.

She runs every morning. β†’ runs = intransitive
She runs a business. β†’ runs = transitive

Remember:
🟒 Transitive = transfers the action to an object.
πŸ”΅ Intransitive = no direct object.
