Hello fellow Fedgocolians,
Warm greetings from the newly elected Executive Committee. I thought to send this semi-formal message straight away as we attempt to ‘land running’.
First let me say a big thank you to all the Branches of Fegocowosa for the overwhelming mandate given to us. We are humbled by this huge investment of trust and confidence in us and I assure you that we intend to justify it fully. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I’d like to start off by saying that I believe that Fegocowosa’s President should not ‘belong’ to any Branch. So my Branch is now officially Fegocowosa (this does not mean that I’m disowning NA, Lagos and Uyo oh). It just means that they have ‘lent’ me to the larger Association! Thank you NA, Lagos and Uyo!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
We (and by this I mean the entire Association) have a lot of work to do. Walking through school yesterday, it dawned on me that we are going to have to do some serious ‘heavy lifting’ to raise the game of FGC Warri, our Alma Mater. To do this, we will need to work together as one large team of ex students, committed to building our school back as well as enjoying some tangible benefits of our associating with each other as we go through life. Anything else isn’t worth it.
So for starters, we must stop quarrelling with one another. I will personally lead this effort and try not to be easily offended or take any misunderstandings personal. I promise to stay transparent and as objective as is humanly possible and to listen to and address any issues openly and honestly. Let us invest all our energy on our mission- to raise the game of FGC Warri (both for current and old students)!!!
Also, I must say that I was struck by the energy and love for school that I saw in the current principal as he addressed the AGC yesterday. He surely is someone we can work with and we will.
I thank the Warri Branch and its Chairman especially, for the very warm reception they gave to the Exco after the election yesterday. As I told them and as I will tell all the Branch Chairmen shortly, I will make a spirited effort to personally visit every branch during this term of office and try to enrol every old student’s commitment to and participation in the effort to deliver our stated mission.
For now, the new Exco will meet a couple of times over the next few weeks to get to know ourselves better, forge a cohesive team with the Branch Chairs and bond together for the task ahead. We will communicate immediately after we have fleshed out an agenda for the next two years of Fegocowosa.
Finally, on behalf of all old students, I want to extend a special thanks and recognition to our immediate predecessors, the Exco led by Senior Maureen Akpofure-Awobokun. We appreciate the immense effort and sacrifices you all made to keep our affairs going, under obviously difficult circumstances. We have taken the baton and will try to give the same level of commitment to the Association.
Happy Sunday everyone and God bless you all.
With warm and cheerful regards,
George Esezobor Uriesi
Global President, Fegocowosa
