National Association of Nigerian Maritime Students ( NANMS ), Calls for actions
We want you all to join us in a match to protest against the negligence of NIMASA to the welfare and trainings of the Nigerian Maritime Students.
Our universities, polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges produce graduate in their rich numbers, enough to solve the problems of maritime industry. But they are never empower to practice in the industry. Something must be done
It is an unhappy truth that many people, even those in the academic atmosphere do not know about the so called National Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP) scheme under NIMASA. This looting and currupt scheme must be abandoned. It's an empowerment of the rich by the the rich. Something must be done in a hurry.
Recently, it was in the news, Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved $454,000 to be spent in providing seatime experience for Nigerian seafarers trained by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) under its National Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP). This money is very little compared to billions of naira used to training those those cadets abroad. We must take actions.
They approved thousand and million of dollars for NSDP when no maritime institution can afford a training vessel for its cadet.
They approved thousand and million of dollars when thousands of vulnerable graduates cannot afford ordinary STCW after school.
They approved millions and thousands of dollars when non of our indigenous private owned training centers measure to international standards.
Something must be done and done in hurry.
So I call on you all to support me in this 30 day peaceful campaign protest to fight for the training and development of our local content (Nigerian Maritime Students)
We need to arouse the concienece of our Leaders and stakeholders to the huge responsibilities and ethical commitment to the development of our local content
We give our federal government Agencies especially NIMASA a 30 days ultimatum to address itself to needs mentioned above. If not, a massive physical match would be organized
Join us in this 30day media campaign.
A struggle for all not for one.
An injury to one is an injury to all.
Let's join hands in the spirit of the slogans we profess, Onward Together.
With this spirit, we shall cause a revolutional ripple effect that will lead to the true reflection of the Treasures of the Seas.
Thanks and God bless you.
