Dear Great Minds, your advice is needed;

I am 25 years old currently working in an IT company. From the last few months, I am feeling very depressed about my future. I think I made a mistake by choosing IT as a career. What should I do?

't be limited.

"You are hired. Give me your e-mail address, and I'll send you the job offer letter bearing the date you should report for work'" the HR manager said to the jobless man who applied for the position of an 'office boy' at Microsoft after passing both the interview and test to clean the floor.

The man however replied, “I don't have a computer, or an email!"

"I'm sorry. If you don't have an email that means you do not exist. And we cannot hire a person who does not exist," said the HR manager.

Disappointed, unsure of what to do, and with only $10 left on him which when spent, he won't have any money for food or to live on, he went to the supermarket to get some foods but eventually bought a crate of tomatoes with his $10 as he found them cheap.

He then went from house door to door to sell the tomatoes, and in less than two hours he doubled his money.

He repeated the operation three times successfully, and returned home with $80.

He then realized that he can survive this way. So, he went every day earlier, and returned late. He tripled his money every day for several days.

Soon, he bought a cart for moving the tomatoes in larger quantities, and then a truck in the second year. Within five years, he had a fleet of delivery trucks.

Five years after he was denied a Microsoft job because of no email, the man, already one of the biggest food retailers in the U.S.A started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance.

So, he called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. At the end of the conversation, the broker asked him for his email address. The man replied: ' I don't have an email.'

The broker was shocked. "You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded in building an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?," he exclaimed!

The man thought for a while, and replied with a smile, "an office boy at Microsoft!"

This new week, realise that:

1. Whatever is not within your control or appears to be getting out of your control is simply teaching you TO LEARN TO LET GO SO YOU CAN LET GOD IN.

2. When you're disappointed or rejected because of your mistake or what you lack, DON'T GET BITTER, JUST FOCUS ON GETTING BETTER at using what you have left, regardless of how small it may look.

3. It's not what you don't have that gets you stuck; it's what you have but don't know how to use it!

WHAT YOU HAVE IS ENOUGH TO START WITH!

I see a greatly rewarding week ahead of you as you run with this mindset.

You are unstoppable!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS 10/03/2021

An employment contract also known as contract of employment is an agreement that covers the working relationship between an employer and an employee. It allows both parties to clearly understand their obligations, responsibilities and the terms of employment. An employment contract must clearly define all terms and conditions of the employment relationship.

Under Section 91 of the Labour Act, 2004, employment contract or contract of employment is defined as “an agreement, whether oral or written, express or implied whereby one person agrees to employ another and that person agrees to serve the employer as a worker”. The elements of a contract employment depends on the right and obligations of the employer and employee.

A written employment contract is a great way to clearly define the role, the responsibilities and the benefits of the employment and to prevent any confusion. An implied employment contract is one that is inferred from comments made during an interview or conversation, etc.

Dear Great Minds,
"My friend was called upon for interview for the role of a Bursar in a big private school;
He has been there for a written and oral interview and he was one of the three best candidates.

So, he was called again to come around for further instructions and he left home quickly, well dressed and prepared to face the music of the day.
As he sat at the reception, one of the top officials stepped in and said, “Hello Mr. Can you drive?
He answered and said “Yes sir”

I have known my friend to be a good driver for long.

“Can you please help get some fuel at the filling station close by?”

Well, as someone looking for a job, he stood up quickly and agreed.

He was to buy fuel into the school bus and a plastic keg.

Getting to the fuel station, he bought the fuel, but a lower price to what he is supposed to buy as offered by the attendant.

The attendant had told him that it was the normal thing that most drivers do, they buy for a lower quantity but get a receipt of the normal quantity and price.

My friend felt that it was an opportunity for him to get a little change for himself out of the money given to him.

The rest is a sad story because the attendant is actually an official of the school and a spy to test my friend’s integrity.

He never knew that it was his final interview!

My friend was the best and the most qualified candidate out of all fourteen that began the recruitment process, but he has issues with money management.

He has trust issues, I could remember that he has borrowed money from me severally and have refused to ask about it or pay back.

He’s so ambitious and wanted to get things at all cost.

That’s how he lost the lifetime opportunity to be the Bursar of such a big school!

Lessons: Watch it when you have issues with being faithful

Your faithfulness will surely be tested!

Integrity is not a cloth we put on at some times and put off at other times. Honesty and integrity are virtues we buil

*It is not possible to get rich while sleeping, so get to work. If you're working add a PLAN B,*

*Avoid get rich quick schemes, because if you desire fortune too quickly, you risk losing everything quickly, just the same way you got it*

*Your success has to follow a process. It must be day by day process, repeated work, stubborn, strewn with moments of deep doubt, failures, frustrations, ups and downs, financial losses, prayers, ideas of abandonment ...*

*This is where you will be stronger. Work more, be patient, avoid self-criticism, humility pay off.*

*Certainly, if you don't give up, success will come.

Dear Great Minds, here's a case study for our learning Pleasure: "I run a manufacturing business and a trading business.
The biggest challenge in my manufacturing business is not power, or infrastructure, the biggest challenge is getting honest staff. Everyone we hire is appears to be on a mission to steal as much as possible. Inflated invoices, recording less than the actual number of units produced. The worst part of it all is that all the fraud we've uncovered is not done by a single person, it's usually many staff who collude with each other, from production, to sales, to finance, even top management. There was a year I overhauled management 3 times in a year. But I've found a solution sha, I now use Indian management. So competent, so honest and so straightforward. I thought they were expensive at first with all the visa fees, accommodation, house staff, but now that losses due to staff theft have been reduced to a minimum, and efficiency increased, the Indian management has turned out to be cheaper than the previous Nigerian management. Now, all sensitive positions involving money go to Indians. Nigerians are only allowed in non-sensitive positions. I used to criticize companies like Dangote Group that hire so many Indians when there are many unemployed Nigerians, but now, I understand their decision.

My biggest challenge in the trading business is the same, getting honest staff. The form of trading occurs in the open market, and involves staff having access to huge sums of money running into a few millions. I know how much I pay to security companies to provide escorts for the staff, not to prevent robbery, but to ensure that the staff go straight to the bank to deposit the money after the day's sales and not disappear with my money. This money spent on security companies is even enough to be declared as profit. We have to spend on CCTV, biometric scanners and other things that wouldn't not be needed if staff weren't looking for the slightest opportunity
