Fervent Edet comes from a family deeply rooted in sports - his mum works with the Athletics Commission of Akwa Ibom state, and his immediate older sister is a High Jumper. It’s no wonder he has toed the path and picked up the sport. Everything around him nudged him towards track, and it’s something he has embraced passionately.

At Uyo, Edet had an impressive outing competing in the 100m and 200m events. In the 100m, he won his heat round, but missed out on a podium placement in the final after posting a time of 12.78s. What he missed in the 100m, he made up for in the 200m - running the fastest time across the heats, semis and final to win the Cadet title.

Edet’s performance caught the eye, earning him a wild card ticket to the Grand final in Abuja. If there was any Athletics tip Fervent might have missed from his mom and sister, he had been learning from MTN CHAMPS Season 1 Ambassador, Imaobong Nse Uko, whom he used to accompany to the Stadium before she secured a scholarship to the United States.

Having missed out on a podium placement in 100m in Uyo, Fervent was more than determined to finish on the podium at the Grand Finale, and he achieved just that - securing a Bronze medal for himself. In the 200m, he ran a Personal Best of 24.77s, improving on his previous time at MTN CHAMPS Uyo, and claiming a Silver medal while at it.

Fervent Edet’s overall performance in the 1st Season of MTN CHAMPS earned him a GOLDEN TICKET to join at the Making of Champions Athletics Academy.
