Alma Mater Honours UNIUYO Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) was at the weekend honoured by his Alma Mater, Saint Columbanus Secondary School, Ikwen (SCOSSI), Obot Akara Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
The event which took place on Saturday, February 26, 2022 had the first part, a Thanksgiving Mass conducted by the Catholic Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Camillus Umoh, and later proceeded to the second part, graduation of 2021/2022 graduands, integration of JSS1 students, cross over of SS1 students, induction of Cambridge Scholars and presentation of wards to outstanding Alumni of SCOSSI where the Vice-Chancellor of UNIUYO, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo and other eight Professors were honoured.
At the Thanksgiving Mass, the Catholic Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese and the Proprietor of SCOSSI, Most Rev. Dr. Camillus Umoh, said that he is happy to see that the school which was established in 1959 by the Catholic Missionaries has produced many Professionals in all walks of life.
He stated that when the school was established nobody knew what it will become, pointing out that today, the school is proud of the products it has produced. Bishop Umoh explained that the vision of Saint Columbanus Secondary School, Ikwen is to give equal opportunity to everyone not minding their religious or ethnic affiliations.
The Proprietor further explained that there is no discrimination in the school setting because the aim of SCOSSI is to give back to the society. He cautioned students that success has no shortcut, also warned that whoever engages in shortcut will be cut short.
Bishop Umoh disclosed that SCOSSI family is happy to celebrate Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo and other eight Professors all alumni of the school who have distinguished themselves in the field of academic, which according to him, is a source of inspiration for the younger ones to emulate.
The Principal of the school, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Emem Umoren in his address at the second part of the event, said that SCOSSI is proud to honour the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo for making the school proud.
He stated that Prof. Ndaeyo is a man that loves his Alma Mater so much and that he is always proud to associate with the school anywhere and anytime. The Principal stressed the fact that Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo deserves the honour, adding that the honour done to him will serve as a point of contact and a motivation to the students of the school to strive towards achieving excellence.
Fr. Umoren assured Prof. Ndaeyo and other eight Professors who are all alumni of SCOSSI of their continuous prayers, love and goodwill. He also explained that there are other alumni of the school who have distinguished themselves in other fields of endeavours but this year's planing committee chose only those in academic for the awards.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo thanked his Alma Mater, Saint Columbanus Secondary School, Ikwen for the honour done him and his colleagues. He promised to keep the flag of the school flying.
Prof. Ndaeyo also advised the students of the school to study hard and shun all social vices. He assured them that only hardwork, commitment to study and self-discipline can lead them to where all of them honoured by the school are.
While filling in questions from newsmen, the Vice-Chancellor urged Nigerian students who are desirous of success to work hard, shun cultism and examination misconduct, stating that by so doing, the grace of God will sustain them and also see them through.
Prof. Ndaeyo reiterated his vision and determination to take the University of Uyo to an enviable height and destination God wants the University to be under his administration.
Other alumni who were honoured alongside Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo were: Prof. Anthony Udosen, Prof. Ernest Owulete, Prof. Aniedi Etokidem, Prof. Jarlath Umoh, Prof. Alphonsus Udoh, Prof. Anthony Akpan and Prof. Mark Umoh who was honoured posthumously.
The Vice-Chancellor of UNIUYO, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo was accompanied by the Management Team, Professors, Dean of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Senior Staff Club Members, Staff, students of the University and Ikono Ndo Ini people to the event.
