*Important fact you must know about studying in Canada:*

While so many people dream about relocating to Canada and becoming a permanent resident (PR) in Canada, only a few persons are aware that studying in Canada is the easiest route to obtaining this PR status.

And talking about studying in Canada, it can be a PhD program, A masters degree program, a postgraduate diploma, a post graduate certificate or even an undergraduate program.

So for someone who wants to study in Canada, here are some things you need to know.

1. There are basically two study terms in a year.

The fall term which resumes studies in September - application for this term starts in September of the preceding year until February of the study year. This is the main term that allows for the major admission.

And there's the January term. The application for this term starts somewhere around April if the preceding year and ends in June/July of the same depending on the university.

These two are the most most popular times that academic sessions begin.

So if you plan to study in Canada next year, you know when to start applying.

2. Canada is bilingual, having English and French as her Lingua Franca. - because of this, you have to be well aware the schools that are English speaking and those that are French speaking.

3. Unlike Nigeria, Canada is divided into provinces not states. And there are about 12 of them. However, a greater majority of these provinces are English speaking. So you need to streamline your search for university to areas that are English speaking if you want to study in English.

These provinces also have their own peculiarities and embedded advantages with respect to cost of living, right and ease of accessing amenities; ease of obtaining a permanent residency etc.

4. Some Canadian universities provide funding for international students especially those with interest in research masters and PhD. These universities also belong to the Designated Learning institute (DLI) - institutions that welcome international students.

5. As a research based masters or PhD student, you can work as a Graduate assistant (GA) or Research assistant (RA) in your school and the university will pay you salaries alongside your funding. - this is particularly juicy for people with research experience in their field.

6. There are several scholarships available for international students - this imply that as an international student, you can apply for several other scholarships when you are already enrolled in Canada. . With this scholarship, you will have so much money to save even if you do not want to work.

7. With your student permit, you can obtain a temporary student work permit that enables you to work 20hours per week. - with this, you can get cool jobs that enables you to pay your bills even while in school.

8. At the end of your studies, you will be granted an automatic 3 years work permit which will enable you stay in Canada and work. Within this three years, you're qualified to apply for permanent residency.

9. With your Canadian permanent resident permit, you will enjoy nearly all the rights of a Canadian citizen including free health care for you and your family, free basic education for your kids, monthly stipend for your kids less than 18 years, free entry into several top countries without visa etc...

10. Finally, Some persons believe that application to Canada is very tough but some of the persons I know in Canada are saying otherwise.

To them, Canada application might be a little bit difficult but with the right strategy, it can be even easier than expected.

With that said, the only thing you have to worry about is how to find that right strategy. As a matter of fact, whenever the discussion is about studying or relocating to any developed country, there are two major factors.

First is *Good strategy* and second is *God's grace* acting on the strategy.

It is not a matter of applying to as many schools or countries as possible. If you apply to a thousand schools and you're doing the wrong thing, your chances will continue to be slim.

But when you apply to numerous schools or countries with the right strategy, then your chances will definitely be higher with God's grace.

The power of Saving

Earlier today, our priest told us a story of a young man with such a good heart.

He loved his mom so much that he promised her to buy her a Range Rover Sport when he was leaving the village for the city.
