LEADING DIFFICULT TEAMS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR LEADERS

Today, students of Cohort II, 2026 of the More Leadership Academy (MLA) participated in a practical and insightful class session on the topic: “Leading Difficult Teams: A Practical Guide for Leaders,” facilitated by Pastor David Fadeyi. The session examined one of the most critical realities of leadership: every leader will inevitably encounter conflict, resistance, disengagement, and difficult personalities. The distinguishing factor, however, lies in a leader’s ability to respond effectively and lead through these challenges.

Pastor David explored the underlying reasons teams become difficult, emphasizing that challenging behaviors are often symptoms of deeper organizational, relational, or personal issues. Students learned the importance of diagnosis before reaction, recognizing that effective leaders must look beyond surface-level behaviors to identify root causes such as fear, insecurity, poor communication, lack of trust, unclear expectations, weak accountability structures, and misaligned goals. The session further examined four common difficult team profiles resistant, passive, aggressive, and disengaged team members and provided practical leadership strategies for managing each effectively.

The class concluded with practical frameworks for conflict resolution and influence-based leadership. Students explored the C.A.L.M. Conversation Model for managing difficult conversations, principles for resolving conflict constructively, and the strategic balance between authority and influence. Emphasis was placed on building trust through firmness, fairness, consistency, and respectful communication. Ultimately, the session reinforced the idea that exceptional leadership is demonstrated not in managing easy people, but in developing the capacity to lead difficult teams toward collaboration, accountability, and high performance.

The Reading Leader's Corner with David Ajibade, reviewing Daniel Goleman's Book Titled "THE NEW LEADERS"

With Our Special Guest Bright Udoeka

30/05/2026

Today at the Reading Leaders Corner, we conclude our exploration of the book The New Leaders: Transforming the Art of Leadership into the Science of Results by Daniel Goleman, with David Ajibade as our Guest Reviewer and Faith Isangedighi as Host.

Over the course of this series, we have examined the foundations of emotional intelligence, resonant leadership, self-awareness, intentional transformation, and sustaining leadership change. In this final session, we turn our attention to the broader leadership challenge of building resonance within teams and organizations.

Why do some teams thrive while others struggle despite having talented people?
What creates dissonance within a workforce?
How can leaders cultivate trust, alignment, engagement, and high performance across an organization?

Drawing from the authors' insights, we will explore the causes and consequences of workforce dissonance in teams and organizations, as well as practical approaches leaders can employ to build cultures of resonance, collaboration, and sustainable results.

Join us this evening on More Leadership Academy's page for what promises to be a rich, thought-provoking, and highly practical conversation.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT 2: DRIVING EXPECTATIONS AND DELIVERING RESULTS

Today, students of Cohort II, 2026 of the More Leadership Academy (MLA) continued their leadership development journey with an engaging and practical class session on the topic: “Project Management 2: Driving Expectations and Delivering Results.” The class explored project management as a strategic process of transforming ideas into measurable outcomes through intentional planning, ex*****on, and accountability.

Students learned that while ideas are abundant, successful ex*****on remains the distinguishing factor between vision and impact. Emphasis was placed on the leadership mandate of creating systems that sustain momentum, drive accountability, and deliver scalable results.

The Chancellor, who facilitated the class, examined the common reasons projects fail, including lack of clarity, ownership, feedback, and proper planning, while introducing the five stages of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Lifecycle Framework: Initiation, Planning, Ex*****on, Monitoring and Control, and Closing. Students were taught the importance of defining a compelling project vision, understanding stakeholder needs, establishing clear success metrics, and balancing the critical constraints of scope, cost, and time.

The session concluded with practical lessons on project ex*****on and performance management. Students explored strategies for team mobilization, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, KPI tracking, change management, and project closure. The class reinforced the idea that successful projects are built on clarity, communication, and agility, equipping participants with the tools needed to drive expectations and consistently deliver results.

MID-COURSE EXERCISE EXPOSES MLA COHORT 2'26 TO COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING

As the More Leadership Academy (MLA) concludes its mid-course exercise for cohort 2, 2026, lessons on collaborative approach to practical problem solving have been learnt by members of the cohort who successfully carried out their mid-term project. The exercise has helped them to rightly place the lessons shared in class in realistic leadership scenarios with practical efforts in collaboration, consensus building, leadership communication, among others.

The class was constituted in teams (A-E) and given tasks to deliberate on related topics rising from the course concentration, analyse peculiar leadership case scenarios and present outcome of analysis, while profering realistic solutions to varying challenges presented to them.

Their presentations were assessed on three broad areas which were - strategic depth and frameworks, ex*****on and team dynamics and the ultimate benchmark. Some specific elements of assessment included depth of analysis, clarity of communication, and team collaboration.

All teams performed greatly, having applied lessons in class on their tasks. The course continues in subsequent weeks with more lessons built around the broad theme of The Leadership Effect.

MORE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: READING LEADERS CORNER.

A leader’s journey of transformation at any level begins with self-awareness; the ability to understand yourself, receive feedback, and intentionally evolve into a better version of yourself. Today at the Reading Leaders Corner, we continue our transformational exploration of the book "The New Leaders (Transforming the Art of Leadership into the Science of Results)" by Daniel Goleman with David Ajibade as our Guest Reviewer and Faith Isangedighi as Host.

Last week, we explored powerful conversations around becoming a resonant leader, the five discoveries, and the motivation to change. This evening, we continue that transformational conversation as we dive deeper into sustaining leadership change and the concept of metamorphosis; the continuous process of growth, renewal, and intentional transformation required for effective leadership.

How does a leader sustain change beyond inspiration?
How do leaders avoid returning to old patterns?
What disciplines and structures make transformation lasting? These and many more critical leadership questions will shape tonight’s robust and intellectually engaging conversation as we continue.

Join us live this evening on our page for another insightful session designed to expand thinking, strengthen leadership capacity, and deepen practical understanding.
