2024 CAREER DAY WAS A SUCCESS. WE ARE GRATEFUL!

Every step in career journey is a brushstroke on the canvas of one's dreams. It is therefore pertinent to paint with purpose, resilience, and a vision that inspires.

Last week, dreams were birthed in our learners, and we as a school tirelessly nurture and hope that these dreams and more be fulfilled in due time.

Our profound gratitude to our dear Pupils Management, Staff and Parents/Guardians who made this possible. God bless us!

Teacher Veronica Abia wrote πŸ‘‡

If you're familiar with Baptist Amah Baptist Nature kitchen , you'd certainly know my boys because he visits and cooks for them a lot. They're special kids who reside at the St Anthony Destitute Centre and they're beneficiaries of his Feed the Kids campaign.

Over the weekend, we were invited to the interhouse sports competition of two schools and we did amazingly well. Oh I didn't tell you, I'm the sports mistress, the athlete that never came to limelight, and it's been an amazing time working and training these boys for track events.

On one of such trainings on how to pass the baton, one of the other pupils messed up while trying to pass the baton and then Israel the last born collected the baton from the boy, instead of running, he hit the defaulting pupil mildly.

When I inquired about what happened, he said in Ibibio "Teacher, ado abi pass baton, anye atamma gbese, ami mbo anye baton mmia anye"

I laughed so hard🀣🀣

I had to explain and beg him not to do that again in case he encounters any "gbese" on the track.

For our two outings, we emerged first.

These boys are athletes and I can only hope that with time, someone can come for them and train them.

Say hi to Abasifreke, Israel, Abasibiangake and Christopher the quiet one!

BUILDING A STRONG CONNECTION WITH YOUR CHILD

Parenting is a journey filled with joys, challenges, and the continuous quest to understand and connect with our children. The question of how well we know our children is crucial in fostering a healthy parent-child relationship. Building a deep understanding of your child requires time, attention, and active engagement. Let’s explore the significance of knowing your child and strategies to enhance this understanding.

Communication is Key:
One of the primary ways to know your child is through effective communication. Regular conversations, whether about their day at school or their interests, create a comfortable space for them to express themselves. Listen attentively, ask open-ended questions, and encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings. This helps build trust and strengthens the parent-child bond.

Observe and Acknowledge:
Understanding your child goes beyond verbal communication. Pay attention to their non-verbal cues, body language, and expressions. Observe their reactions to different situations and acknowledge their emotions. By being attuned to these subtleties, you can gain insights into their personality, preferences, and concerns.

Quality Time Matters:
In our busy lives, it’s essential to carve out quality time for our children. Engage in activities they enjoy, whether it’s playing games, reading together, or pursuing shared hobbies. These shared experiences provide opportunities to connect on a deeper level, fostering a sense of security and love.

Respect Their Individuality:
Every child is unique, with distinct personalities, interests, and strengths. Recognize and respect their individuality. Avoid imposing your expectations or preconceived notions on them. Instead, nurture their talents, encourage their passions, and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small.

Stay Informed:
As your child grows, their world evolves, too. Stay informed about their academic progress, social circles, and any challenges they may be facing. Attend parent-teacher meetings, engage with their friends, and be aware of their online activities (where applicable). This knowledge enables you to provide the necessary support and guidance.

Be a Supportive Presence:
Children need to know they have a reliable and supportive presence in their lives. Create an environment where they feel comfortable coming to you with their concerns and questions. Offer guidance without judgment, fostering open communication and a sense of security.

Conclusion:

Knowing your child is an ongoing process that requires dedication, patience, and genuine interest. The more you invest in understanding their thoughts, emotions, and experiences, the stronger your connection will become. By actively participating in their lives and respecting their individuality, you lay the foundation for a resilient and loving parent-child relationship. In the end, the question is not just how well you know your child, but how well you continuously strive to understand and support them on their unique journey.
