The Algebra Mistake Most Students Make 👀

If your child says, ‘Maths is too hard,’ this video is for you.

Today, my JSS2 student started class unsure of how to expand and simplify algebraic expressions.

We broke it down step by step, and before long, she was solving the classwork successfully on her own! 🎉

That’s what I love about teaching Mathematics:
when a student understands the “why,” confidence follows.

At MathsAffairs, I help students understand Mathematics, not just memorize steps, through engaging and personalised online lessons.

Is your child struggling with Mathematics or losing confidence?

I’m not really a maths person.

If you’ve said that before, you’re not alone.

Most students don’t struggle because they’re bad at maths. They struggle because no one has broken it down properly.

That’s why I started MathsAffairs Academy.
Every student can excel in mathematics when they’re taught with clarity, patience, and the right approach.

My goal isn’t to get you memorizing formulas, it’s to help you learn, understand, and apply maths with real confidence.

Each lesson is simple, interactive, practical, and built around your pace. Whether you’re preparing for WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, A-Levels, university maths, or just want a stronger foundation, I’m here to help.

Here’s what you get:

✅ One-on-one online tutoring
✅ Maths for all levels
✅ Exam preparation
✅ Homework assistance
✅ Lesson notes and learning resources
✅ Flexible schedules that fit your routine
Your next maths breakthrough could start with just one

📩 Send me a DM or WhatsApp today, let’s build your maths confidence together.

📌 Why Do Students Struggle To Relate Mathematics To Real Life?

Students often ask,
Sir/Ma, when will we ever use this in real life?”

Almost every mathematics teacher has heard this question.

And honestly… students are not wrong to ask.

Many students struggle to connect mathematics to real life because they often see formulas without seeing purpose. They memorize steps, pass exams, and move on — without understanding how math shapes everyday decisions.

Think about it…

Mathematics helps us:
• Manage money and budgeting
• Build structures and design technology
• Analyze data and make smart decisions
• Solve real-world problems creatively

Yet, when math is taught without real-life context, it begins to feel abstract and distant.

Another major challenge is math anxiety. Once students believe math is “too hard,” they disconnect from it emotionally and mentally.

The truth is — mathematics is not just about numbers.
It is a language of problem-solving and critical thinking.

Maybe the real question is not:
“Why do students struggle with math?”

Maybe it is:
“Are we showing students why math truly matters?”

💭 What teaching or learning methods have helped you connect mathematics to real life?
