UNDERSTANDING THE OLD AND NEW COVENANTS IN CHRIST (9)
Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Vs 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
The new covenant gives us the spirit.
When Jesus sat at the right hand of the father after he rose from the dead, the fruit of that work was the holy spirit. The holy spirit was given on a particular day of Pentecost in Acts 2.
Acts 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all [ye] that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
Vs 15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is [but] the third hour of the day.
Vs 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Vs 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Vs 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
In the new covenant, he poured out his spirit.
Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
The very first Pentecost was when the law was given. The result?
3,000 people died.
Why did they die? They died because the law is a ministration of death.
When the spirit was given in Acts 2.
3,000 people were saved.
God had poured out his spirit. In other words, Jesus had poured out his spirit. Why did he pour out his spirit? The blood had been shed.
The evidence of the new testament is the spirit within us. This is the proof and evidence of the new covenant.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.
Vs 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
The law of sin and death is the old testament.
We function in the law of the spirit of life IN CHRIST JESUS. We are in Christ today.
This is the law of the new testament; the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
God says I will write my law in their hearts. Is he talking about the ten commandments? No! He is talking about the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
CONFESSION:
The law of the spirit of life is in Christ Jesus. I walk in the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus now and forever!
