Computer Networking and Configuration syllabus
1. Network Fundamentals
Network Models: Detailed study of the OSI and TCP/IP models.
Network Topologies & Media: Understanding LAN, WAN, and wireless types; physical vs. wireless network media.
IP Addressing: IPv4/IPv6 structures, IP subnetting, and binary conversion.

2. Hardware and Device Configuration
Switching & VLANs: Configuring access and trunk ports, managing Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), and spanning tree protocols.
Routing Operations: Static vs. dynamic routing (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
Device Administration: Initial setup, managing the Cisco IOS (or equivalent CLI), and securing network devices.

3. Network Services and Protocols
DHCP & DNS: Configuring Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for dynamic IP assignments; setting up Domain Name Systems for name resolution.
NAT & PAT: Network Address Translation for private-to-public IP mapping.
Core Application Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, and SNMP.

4. Network Security
Access Control Lists (ACLs): Implementing traffic filtering and standard/extended ACLs.
Firewalls & VPNs: Basic firewall rule configurations and setting up remote access.
Wireless Security: Securing WPA2/WPA3 and managing AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting).

5. Troubleshooting and Management
Diagnostic Utilities: Practical command-line usage of ping, traceroute, ipconfig, and nslookup.
Network Monitoring: Using Syslog, SNMP, and packet sniffers like Wireshark for network analysis.
SDN & Programmability: Overview of Software-Defined Networking and network automation.
