Did you notice the walking stick, beads and umbrella in our last video?

They may look like beautiful accessories, but in Akwa Ibom traditional attire, they can add meaning and symbolism to the overall appearance.

🪵 The Walking Staff
The walking stick is more than something to hold. It can be part of the dignified appearance of the groom or an elder, symbolising maturity, authority and respect.

📿 The Beads
Beads are an important part of traditional dressing and can add elegance and cultural identity to the outfit. They may be worn around the neck, wrist or as part of the overall adornment.

☂️ The Umbrella — almost like a veil!
And then there is the umbrella! 😍 In traditional ceremonial settings, an umbrella can be used as a beautiful finishing touch, creating a sense of royalty, prestige and celebration.
