"SCHOOL OWNERS, READ THIS — And Parents, Teachers Please Pay Attention Too!"

There is something many parents don’t fully understand about running a school, and today, let’s talk about it openly — with love, with truth, and with respect.

Running a school is not just “collecting school fees.”
It is managing a community.
It is carrying the responsibility of hundreds of children.
It is balancing expectations from parents, teachers, government regulations, and financial realities… all at the same time.

Let’s break it down for a moment:

1️⃣ School Owners are not “overcharging” — they are SURVIVING.

Parents see school buildings, neat classrooms, and a few teachers standing in front of students.
But they DON’T see:

Constant increase in cost of rent

Higher salaries for teachers

Rising price of books, stationeries, and materials

Electricity bills that never take a break

Repairs, maintenance, repainting, security, and water

Taxes, levies, compliance fees, government requirements

Training teachers, buying teaching aids, upgrading curriculum

Schools don’t run on miracles — they run on MONEY.

Many school owners take loans, sell personal items, or use their savings just to keep the school doors open.

2️⃣ Teachers need to be paid — and paid WELL.

A school is only as strong as its teachers.
If a parent wants quality education for their child, then teachers must be supported, trained, encouraged, and PAID consistently.
No school can survive without investing in their staff.

3️⃣ Parents only see fees… they don’t see EXPENSES.

When the term ends, some parents complain:
“School fees is too much.”
“Why are they increasing fee again?”
But the truth is… everything else around the school has increased too — from chalk to textbooks to transport to food supply.

When schools don’t adjust fees, they run at a loss.
And when they run at a loss, the learning quality drops.

4️⃣ School Owners are humans too.

They have families.
They have responsibilities.
They get tired.
They feel the pressure.
They worry about parents who won’t pay on time, teachers who need support, and children who deserve the best.

Behind every report card, every assembly, every exam, every graduation ceremony…
there’s a proprietor or proprietress working late into the night, planning, budgeting, and thinking:

“How do I make this school better?”

5️⃣ Running a school is a calling — not just a business.

Only someone with passion can continue despite the stress.
Only someone who truly loves education can keep going even when school fees don’t come in on time.
Only someone with a heart for children remains committed, even when everything becomes overwhelming.

SCHOOL OWNERS:

What is ONE THING you wish parents understood about running a school?

Drop it in the comments — let’s educate the community.

PARENTS:

If this helped you see things differently, kindly share it so others can understand the sacrifice behind every well-run school.
