Validity of the Study: Questions Every Researcher Must Consider

Validity of a study goes beyond methodology; it challenges us to reflect on whether the research genuinely followed all necessary phases. Can the findings be trusted if variables were not carefully controlled, or if the instruments failed to capture the intended concepts? Did the research design allow for true cause-and-effect conclusions, or were there gaps that weaken internal validity? Are the results applicable beyond the sample, or is external validity assumed without proof? Considering these questions provokes deeper reflection, ensuring that the study is credible, thorough, and capable of making meaningful contributions to knowledge.

Process evaluation is more than a research step it is the engine that determines whether your results can be trusted. If the process is weak, even the best findings collapse. But when activities, timelines, and participant responses are monitored, outcomes become clearer and more meaningful. It reveals hidden challenges, exposes biases, and strengthens credibility. The real question is: How often do we blame the outcome without checking the process? And if we don’t examine how a study was carried out, can we truly trust its conclusions? In research, as in life, a strong process is the foundation of powerful results.
