WHY YOU SHOULD GET A LICENSED OFFICE 365

Look at the 2 pictures and see the difference. I made this automated attendance register for a school.

Picture 1: An automated time book with checkboxes. All the staff need to do is click on the checkbox, and the time will be recorded

Picture 2: Same template, but the staff have to type 1 in the cell instead of clicking on a checkbox.

The reason I had to redo the second template is that the checkbox feature is not available in my client's version of Microsoft Office.

I thought of many ways to fix it with formulas, but none worked. Finally, I applied common sense, replaced the checkbox with 1 for present and an empty cell for absent. And then edited the timestamp formulas to replace TRUE/FALSE with 1/"".

Now, imagine having to go through the pain of redoing this in 12 worksheets for Jan to Dec. Not to mention the time wasted. If not for my keyboard shortcut skills, it would have been a whole day's job.

You see why you need to step up and get a licensed Microsoft Office 365? There are many other interesting features that make work just easy, but you cannot get them in the pirated and outdated Office versions.

I feared mathematics in secondary school and avoided it. The scariest word to me those days was “PROBLEM.” Why give it to me? I have many problems already.
Now, that is what is happening to new users of Excel.
Many new Excel users fear the word 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗨𝗟𝗔. Once you mention formula, their heart skips 2 bits. And in their minds, they’re saying, “Oh, please, not again. I thought we were done with this in school already.” Formulas to them mean 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗦.

Welcome to part 2 of this very important tutorial.

Excel formula errors can be very annoying, and they can be even worse if you don't know the cause.

Knowing the problem is the first step to finding the solution. So, let's share the causes of error in Excel formulas and their solutions.

Shall we?

Cause: Excel returns when it finds the wrong type of data in a calculation.

Example: =B8+A8
where A8 contains text instead of a number.

Solution:
• Ensure all values involved in calculations are numeric.
• Remove unnecessary spaces.
• Convert text numbers to real numbers.

Cause: Invalid numeric values or impossible mathematical calculations.

Examples: =SQRT(-1) or =A9^B9
(result too large for Excel)

Solution:
• Check formula arguments.
• Avoid calculations that exceed Excel's numeric limits.

9. ! (only in Excel 365 and Excel 2021)
Cause: This happens when a dynamic array formula cannot return results because cells in the spill range are occupied.

Example: =SEQUENCE(10)
While cells below already contain data.

Solution:
• Clear obstructing cells. Create enough room for your data.
• Move the formula to an empty area.

10. ! (Available in Excel 365 and Excel 2021)
Cause: Excel encounters a calculation problem within a dynamic array formula.

Example:
=FILTER(A1:A10,B1:B10="Yes")
When no records match, and no alternative result is specified.

Solution:
• Review the formula logic.
• Add an optional result argument.

The Correct Formula should be:
=FILTER(A1:A10,B1:B10="Yes","No Results")

Cause: It means Excel cannot recognize or retrieve a field from a linked data type.

Solution:
• Verify the field name.
• Refresh the linked data source.
• Select the correct data field.

• Wait for the data retrieval to finish.
