And the winners of the 2026 Miva AI Hackathon are… Team Vector! 🎉

Guided by this year’s theme, AI for Africa’s Real Challenges, Team Vector developed MedLink, an AI-powered patient triage solution designed to help hospitals identify urgent cases faster, reduce waiting times, and improve patient outcomes.

Their innovative solution earned them the ₦1,500,000 grand prize, along with mentorship opportunities to continue refining and scaling their idea.

Congratulations to Team Vector and to every participant who dared to imagine, build, and create a better future. The future is in good hands. 💙🚀

We’re proud to announce our partnership with OPay to expand access to quality education and innovation.

Through this partnership, OPay will establish and fund a scholarship programme for 20 Miva Open University students annually over the next 10 years, making Miva the first private open university to partner with OPay on this initiative.

The scholarship will be awarded to deserving students based on financial need and the recommendations of the scholarship selection committee. Beyond funding education, this partnership is designed to empower the next generation of technology innovators with the knowledge, practical experience, and professional networks they need to thrive in the digital economy.

Students will also benefit from a National Innovation Challenge, where they will develop and refine scalable fintech and technology solutions, as well as professional development webinars focused on leadership, critical thinking, and collaboration. Outstanding participants will gain access to mentorship, internship opportunities, and career pathways with OPay and its partner organisations.

At Miva, we believe transformative education is built on meaningful partnerships. Together with OPay, we’re creating more opportunities for students to learn, innovate, and shape the future.
