These hubs will include:
๐ŸŒŠ Underwater Cable Landing Stations โ€“ connecting Googleโ€™s Equiano & Umoja subsea cables to African regions

๐Ÿ“Š THE FACTS:
๐Ÿ— 4 hubs planned across strategic regions of Africa
๐ŸŒŠ Equiano & Umoja cables set to land this year
๐Ÿ•’ 3-year completion timeline
๐Ÿค Part of a bigger trend โ€“ Microsoft & other tech giants are racing to expand Africaโ€™s digital infrastructure

๐Ÿง  Data Colonialism Risk: Allowing foreign companies to control African data could mean billions in value leaving the continent instead of building African AI, research, and innovation.

๐Ÿ”‘ THE IMPORTANCE OF AFRICAโ€™S DATA:
๐Ÿฆ Economic Value: Data is the new oil Africaโ€™s online activity is worth billions annually in advertising, analytics, and AI training.
