Culture in it's simplest form is a people's way of life, simply put, our culture is our identity. However, with the passing of time and the advancement of seasons and generations, our culture is beginning to fade off and people can no longer embrace their identity.

The Bertram American International School, is an international school that embraces and accommodates people from different cultures and tribes. To show this forth and to help teach the children on the beauty of our culture, the school just celebrated her first culture and arts festival.

It was a colorful event, the 3 main tribes of Nigeria were explored. It is expedient we begin from our own country as there's no place like home. Just as the popular saying goes, Charity begins at home.

We Bask in the euphoria of the finished work of Christ on the cross, and we make bold to say that HE IS RISEN and guess what? we ROSE with him so we are More than Conquerors.

Every year on 8th March, International Women’s Day is celebrated to commemorate and honour women's accomplishments, raise awareness about gender disparities and discrimination, as well as promote global support for women.

This year's IWD theme as given by the United Nation is "DigitALL: innovation and technology for gender equality. This theme is centered on embracing gender equality and empowerment, as there's no limitation or restrictions to what a woman can achieve.

This theme is to further embrace the priority theme of the commission on the status of women which is Innovation and technological change and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

At Bertram American International School, we recognize that every woman was once a girl, so we embrace the theme of the IWD and ensure that we support in raising powerful, balanced, stable and independent girls who would one day become super women. We celebrate the effort, achievement and involvement of every woman in the development of the society and the family.

The theme of the 2023 celebration is: To invest in people, prioritize education.

This is a timely call for the leaders and Nigerians to invest more in the education sector and to see to it that children get good and quality education.

Education is the foundation on which every other sector of the economy and the society thrives on. We therefore make a clarion call to all Nigerians, stakeholders, as well as those looking to get into political positions to come together and invest in the education of our children. Let's make education a priority and see a positive change in our economy.

The vision of Bertram American International School is to provide quality education, investing greatly in the education sector to ensure that every child has access to quality education as the goal is to raise children who are stars and will shine forth unapologetically in the world. EFFECT OF ADHD ON CHILDREN IN SCHOOL

WHAT IS ADHD?

ADHD is a medical condition known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a complex brain condition that can affect children at school adversely. Some of the signs that a child may have ADHD include:

*Inability to focus in anything
*Restlessness
*Inability to listen or pay attention
*Irritability
*Forgetfulness
*Depression
*Boredom
*Learning Difficulties
*Low self esteem

A child with ADHD can also:
*Fidget or tap their hands or feet or squirm their chair
*Be on the go - in constant motion
*Run around or climb in situations where it is inappropriate
*Have problems performing an activity quietly
*Have difficulty waiting for their turn
*Intrude on others' conversation or activities and more disruptive behaviors.

The good news is that, specialized teachers, doctors and parents can work together to help such children manage thier situation and still perform well in school.
