The phrase 'Chiadikaobimma' in Nsibidi translates to 'God pleases the heart so much.' This phrase is more than a name; it serves as a reminder of our indigenous system of writing, law, and memory that predated the introduction of paper and the Latin alphabet. The Nsibidi script was utilized by various groups, including the Igbo, Efik, Ibibio, and Ejagham, to document ideas, convey warnings, and signify identity. If we fail to incorporate it into our daily lives by practicing, reading, and applying it in areas such as names, art, and everyday activities, it will remain confined to museums and textbooks. Culture becomes obsolete when it is merely observed rather than actively lived.

Umuafai is situated in Ndume, which is among the seven distinct clans of Ibeku, a community that claims its lineage to Ibeku Ukwu Ogurube, a revered ancestral figure known for his prosperity. According to tradition, the seven sons of Ibeku went on to establish the seven clans. In divination practices, the Dibia Afa may utilize water as a medium to validate or gain insight into the revelations made by the Afa seeds or strings, leveraging water's reflective surface and ritual significance to connect with Ala, the earth goddess, and the spirit realm. In cases involving Ogbanje, a crucial part of the ritual to liberate the child from the cycle of spirit reincarnation involves locating and destroying the iyi-uwa. Despite the decreased reliance on communal water sources in Umuafai, one notable landmark that persists is Ama-pump, a testament to the enduring tradition and its affinity with water divination practices in the area.
