FG set to launch education loan scheme

The federal government says it is ready to launch the Nigerian Education Loans Fund for students in tertiary institutions.

The executive secretary of the Student Loan Board, Dr Akintunde Sawyerr, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Monday in Abuja.

He said that the scheme was to eliminate the challenges faced by Nigerian youths in accessing tertiary education due to lack of funding by their parents or guardians.

WEST AFRICA'S YOUNGEST P.HD. HOLDER

Dr. Olaoluwa Hallowed Oluwadara had his Ph.D., at the age of 24, in Mathematics, making him the youngest West African with a doctorate degree.

The Ekiti State indigene, born in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR), who graduated from the University of Lagos, Akoka, as the Best Graduating Ph.D. holder in 2013, has two first (First Class) degrees and Master's degrees, in Mathematics and Physics which were run simultaneously, at the University of Bangui, Central African Republic.

Olaoluwa Hallowed Oluwadara won the University of Bangui’s All-Time Best Student Award from the Department of Mathematics (BSc), Best BSc Student Award in Physics, 2007, and Best MSc Awards in Physics and Mathematics respectively in 2008.

Oluwadara, as of 2020, was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, United States, and his research has shifted to the more theoretical study of quantum ergodicity in mathematical physics which ultimately applies to optimisation of various systems in computer science, thermodynamics, optics, and so on.

This is the flier with a summary of all our coming challenges.

MAKE SURE YOU READ INSTRUCTIONS on the posts on the dates of the competition. This is very important because even if you get all the answers correctly without following instructions, you will NOT be scored.

For the Mathematics challenge, you will have 4 hours from the time the post is made to submit all answers. ONLY 4 HOURS. All solutions entered after 4 hours will NOT be considered for prizes.

For the Essay challenge, you will have ONLY 3 HOURS to submit a 300-350 word essay on a topic that would be given on that day. You can reference appropriately where needed.

For the debate, you will have ONLY 3 HOURS and two chances of 200-250 words each to make your argument for or against a topic that would be given that day. No repetition of someone else's points but you can counter another's points based on facts. You can post links to references and buttress your points.

Please tag interested participants here now to see the time schedules, share this post, and you can save this flier and send it to those who might be interested. If your son, daughter, friend, sister, brother or anyone you know is good at Mathematics, Debates or Essay Writing; give them this information. Because the 3 or 4 HOUR TIMING is strict. We will NOT extend your own time because you did not see the post early enough or as soon as it was made.

The prizes stated are the BASE prizes. The prizes will increase if we get more support.

We want to make this big to encourage people, especially younger generations that it pays to be intellectually sound.
