We all have fears, but we must decide to move one for clarity to sets in.

Take your time and read through. It will sure be of help.

KNOWING IS NOT ENOUGH, DO IT.

Many young people believe that they have great ideas.

Ideas that will change the world, secure their name in the hall of fame or at the very least make them very wealthy.

Yet , at the present, they have no money nor any achievement to show for their brilliant ideas.

Do you know someone like that?
Maybe very close to you or maybe even you!

The question is, why do many people with great ideas rarely achieve them, while some people who are not really that talented, end up with great wealth.

I remember discussing about a man that sells some basic food commodities in main market.

He obviously didn’t go to higher institution and will be considered an illiterate by most people’s standard.
However, by the last count, this man has already built over 20 estate apartments.

Many factors are responsible for this trend and I will explain just a few of them here and hopefully more in subsequent post.

1. Knowing vs. Doing

Many young people spend years learning business or related courses in school, while I have nothing against school thou a dropout, I have realized that too much learning without application will actually paralyze you.

To make matters worse, without trying to undermine our lecturers, it is still important to note that most of our lecturers have not practiced what they are teaching us, and infact they teach the same thing every year, even though the world is rapidly changing everyday.

This is why I started INFORMATION GENERATION ACADEMY. Its a story of it own….

2. Apprenticeship

Another powerful reason why we have “illiterates” who seem to succeed more than “graduates” is apprenticeship.

This is one of the greatest secret of success because it makes you learn by doing.

Infact recently, BBC carried a quiet documentary of this powerful phenomenon that has created uncountable millionaires who never went through the four walls of the university, but went through the real university of apprenticeship, provided by their master.

It is a pity that this wonderful institution is dying off, as more youths seek for faster wealth and most parents now insist on sending every teenager to higher institution, whether he scored 150 and above in Jamb or not.

The end result is a constant production of hundreds of thousands of unemployed, confused and half-baked graduates flooding the labour market, no offence guys! But our school system is totally broken and out of date.

3. Peers

Another extremely important factor of success that many youths are not aware of, is the critical effect that people you hang out with, has on your future.

Listen….Those people around you right now, are a mirror of your future. If they are worthless, people with little ambition, you are going to become worthless eventually.

If they are complainers and whiners, you will end up blaming the nation for all your woes and have nothing to show for your life.

But if you are hanging out with Shola Akinlade , co founder of paystack, you will soon have a big fintech company.

If you are hanging out with Chimamanda Adichie, you will soon write an earth shattering novel.

If you are hanging out with Razaq Ahmed, cofounder of cowry wise, you will soon have your own hi tech solution company.

If Emmanuel Ademola of Landwey or Jeffrey of Alstonia is your buddy, you will soon have a big estate of your own.

Don’t mind the names I mentioned, I just want to show you a few young people (in their 20’s and 30’s) that are blazing pathways in our peculiar economy.

You can add other young achievers you know below.

Do you know that all of Zuck’s roomates and buddies are now billionaires, basically because they hung out with Zuck.

Do you know that Billionaire Steve Ballmer past CEO of Microsoft, knows almost nothing about programming when he joined Microsoft, but his major ticket to great wealth, was being a class mate and buddy of Bill Gates, before he dropped out of Harvard.

And what of Steve Jobs and his pal Steve Wosniak?

I will say this again. Look at your friends today, and you will see a mirror of your future.

If you don’t like what you are seeing, quickly change your friends.

But if you doubt this, then write about your story in the next 20 years.

A word is enough for the wise…

Wishing you success.

40,000 Young Women and Men in Nigeria Will Be Equipped Annually With Entrepreneurial Skills Through EDC Partnership With the Mastercard Foundation
2nd October – Lagos, Nigeria – Today, the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) announced a partnership with the Mastercard Foundation to launch the Transforming Nigerian Youths program. Recognizing that employment is a pathway out of poverty, the program seeks to create a network of entrepreneurial and managerial change makers, particularly young people and women across the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, in Nigeria. In a bid to help reduce the unemployment rate in the country, the free training program aims to boost employment creation and sustainable livelihoods.

This program is open to all and is primarily focused on the Lagos, Kano, and Kaduna states. Through this program, 40,000 young people will be supported with the resources and learning required to start, grow, and expand their businesses. The program will also provide support and resources to young people who want to become employable in the creative and agricultural sectors.

In the last decade, Nigeria’s unemployment rate has continued to increase. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the unemployment rate as at the second quarter of 2020 was 27.1 percent, indicating that about 21,764,614 (21.7 million) Nigerians remain unemployed, of which 13.9 million are young people.

Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan-Atlantic University, a leading enterprise development Centre, has in the last 17 years, provided support services to thousands of SMEs through capacity building, advisory services, and partnerships with organizations that have an interest in the development of the SME sector in Nigeria.

“We are excited to be part of the Transforming Nigerian Youths program to empower young Nigerians, especially women. It will serve as a catalyst for entrepreneurial reorientation, job creation, and sustainable livelihood,” says Mr. Peter Bankole, Deputy Director, Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University.

The intervention will scale EDC’s online learning capabilities to provide core business training to an even broader grouping of SMEs in the agricultural and creative sectors of the economy. It will also ensure that even the most marginalized, including young women in the north, can access this world class training.

“Young Africa Works in Nigeria is committed to enabling opportunity for at least eight million young Nigerians. Entrepreneurship will play a key role in achieving this goal. Fortunately, Nigeria also has no shortage of young entrepreneurs. This initiative, which is part of the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy, will prepare and enable young people to pursue their aspirations and create productive livelihoods for themselves and others,” says Chidinma Lawanson, Country Head, Nigeria at the Mastercard Foundation.

Applications are open for young Nigerians, especially young men and women
