SUBJECT: CONDOLENCE ON THE DEMISE OF HIS EMINENCE, SHEIKH DAHIRU USMAN BAUCHI

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

“Verily, we belong to God, and verily to Him we return.” (Qur'an 2:156)

It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that the Mbinnden Jangen Adlam Pulaar Educational Awareness Association of Nigeria received the news of the passing of His Eminence, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. We submit to the divine decree of Allah (SWT), the All-Wise.

The departure of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is not just a loss for his immediate family or Bauchi State, but a monumental loss for the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and beyond. He was a towering pillar of Islamic scholarship, a beacon of spiritual guidance, and a tireless advocate for peace, unity, and moral rectitude. For decades, his resonant voice, filled with wisdom and compassion, educated millions, healed divisions, and drew countless souls closer to their Creator.

His life was a testament to the pure teachings of Islam and the noble Pulaaku values of patience, dignity, knowledge, and service to humanity. He embodied the role of a true Mallam—a teacher, a leader, and a father to all.

As an association dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Fulbe culture and the Islamic faith, we feel his absence immensely. His guidance was a source of light, and his prayers were a fortress for the community.

While we mourn his departure, we take solace in the immense and righteous legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of millions of students, a thriving Islamic institution, and a life impeccably spent in the service of Allah.

We pray that Almighty Allah, in His mercy grant him Jannatu firdausi.

Il a été porté à notre attention qu'une société appelée Awarri Technologies Limited au Nigeria, en collaboration avec AI Large Language Africa et Google, a lancé un projet impliquant la collecte d'annotations en langage Fula (Adlam Script) à des fins d'écriture et d'annotation.

Cependant, nous avons constaté avec une grande inquiétude que :

1. Le dialecte fulfulde utilisé dans leur projet n’est pas le dialecte nigérian.

2. Le travail réalisé comporte de nombreuses erreurs.

3. Nombre des personnes impliquées dans ce projet ne sont pas des experts en adlam et ne sont pas Nigérians.

Ce développement présente un risque sérieux de déformation et de mauvaise représentation de la langue fulfulde au Nigéria par le biais de leur système de programmation.

Par conséquent, nous :

Appelons la direction de Google et tous les Peuls du Nigéria à agir de toute urgence.

Demandons la suspension de ce projet au Nigéria jusqu’à la tenue d’une consultation et d’une table ronde appropriées.

Offrons notre expertise pour fournir la grammaire fulfulde nigériane authentique et les normes d’écriture adlam afin de garantir l’exactitude et la préservation de la culture.

Nous devons protéger notre langue et notre patrimoine de toute déformation, et nous sommes prêts à collaborer de manière appropriée au bénéfice de notre peuple et des générations futures.

My dear esteemed members of the Winden Jangen Adlam Fulfulde Academy Nigeria and the Mbinnden Janngen Adlam Pulaar Educational Awareness Association of Nigeria (BIJAPEDAN),

It has come to our attention that a company called Awarri Technologies Limited in Nigeria, in collaboration with AI Large Language Africa and Google, has commenced a project involving the collection of Fula (Adlam Script) language annotations for writing and annotation purposes.

However, we have observed with great concern that:

1. The Fulfulde language dialect being used in their project is not the Nigerian dialect.

2. There are numerous errors in the work being carried out.

3. Many of the individuals involved in this project are not experts in Adlam and are not Nigerians.

This development poses a serious risk of misrepresenting and distorting Fulfulde language in Nigeria through their programming system.

Therefore, we:

Call on Google leadership and all Fulanis in Nigeria to urgently take action.

Request the suspension of this project in Nigeria until a proper consultation and roundtable discussion is held.

Offer our expertise to provide the authentic Nigerian Fulfulde grammar and Adlam script standards to ensure accuracy and cultural preservation.

We must protect our language and heritage from distortion, and we stand ready to collaborate in the right way for the benefit of our people and future generations.
