THE FIRST EVER SOKOTO YOUTH SDG SUMMIT WAS NEVER JUST AN EVENT!
Events end when the lights go out.
Our hope is that this one would begin there.
The Sokoto Youth SDG Summit 2026 themed: Roots & Rise was born from a simple conviction: young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the changemakers of today. But to lead meaningful change, they must first be equipped with the right mindset, the right skills, and the right community.
That vision came to life as over 150 participants gathered for a day of learning, honest conversations, practical masterclasses, and meaningful connections.
From the keynote titled: The World Needs More Than Successful People, Why must this generation do practical sessions on leadership, communication, personal branding, opportunities, and impact creation, every conversation was designed with one goal in mind: to prepare a generation that is ready to lead with purpose.
Beyond the sessions, participants connected with organisations such as the Yali Network Sokoto and U-Report Sokoto, discovering pathways to fellowships, volunteering, leadership, and global opportunities. We were equally honoured by the presence and support of the Office of the SSA Strategic Communication Senior Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Governor on Strategic Communication, student leaders, partner organisations, and many others who believed in this vision.
One of the moments that will stay with us was hearing a respected youth leader, Zakariya'u Dauda describe the summit as "remarkable." For us, that wasn't simply a compliment, it was an affirmation that intentional planning and a clear vision can create meaningful impact.
This summit was made possible by our exceptional speakers Tasiu Aminu and others, committed partners Save the Child Initiative - STCI Nigeria, Iconic FM Nigeria, Shield Nigeria UDUS Debate Club and the Entrepreneurship Club, UDUS and every participant who chose to show up with an open mind.
Roots & Rise was never about hosting another event. It was about planting seeds of leadership, purpose, and action.
And this is only the beginning.
