SIWES DIRECTOR SECURES APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT OF IT STUDENTS’ ALLOWANCES AND UNIT COORDINATORS

In her continued efforts to promote the welfare of students and staff, the Director of SIWES, Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic Sokoto, Mrs. Sumayyah Abubakar Shamaki, has successfully secured approval for the payment of Industrial Training (IT) students’ allowances for two streams 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, as well as allowances for SIWES Unit Coordinators and other eligible.

The development is a welcome initiative and a significant milestone in the history of the institution. The approved payments are expected to commence at any moment from now.

The Director called on all Heads of Departments to ensure proper coordination of IT activities, particularly IT defence, and to always collect and maintain students’ account details for proper documentation and smooth processing of future payments.

Mrs. Sumayyah Abubakar Shamaki expressed her appreciation to the Ag. Rector, Engr. Aliyu Suleman Mindaudu, and his management team for approving the payment of allowances to SIWES Unit Coordinators and other entitled of the department.

She described the approval as a demonstration of the management’s commitment to the welfare of students and staff and to the continued development of the institution.

Sokoto State Government to Construct Sports Arena at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic

The Sokoto State Government has awarded a contract to construct a new modern sports arena at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, as part of its commitment to promoting sports development and students' well-being.

The Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Isah Muhammad Maishanu, made the announcement during the official handing over of the project site to the contractor. He stated that the project is in fulfillment of the campaign promises of the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, aimed at enhancing physical fitness and recreational activities for students and the state communities in general.

Speaking during the event, the Ag. Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Aliyu Suleman Mindaudu, expressed appreciation to Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto and the Honourable Commissioner for the remarkable positive of this type of intervention. He assured the government that the institution would ensure the proper protection, maintenance, and effective utilization of the sports arena upon its completion.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Governing Board, Prof. Aminu Salihu Mikailu, alongside members of the Governing Board. Also present were the Institution's Registrar, Malam Sirajo Abubakar, the Bursar, Alhaji Mukhtar Bala, Directors, and other principal officers of the Polytechnic, who witnessed the official handing over of the project site.
