Children feel more curious and empowered when everything is within their reach.

So, place materials on low shelves and have materials and resources at eye level.

Set things up so children do not need to ask for help, especially when they can do it themselves.

Also, regularly assess the environment for potential hazards and make necessary adjustments to ensure a safe space for exploration.

Accessibility is key!

Cheers to your success!

What is one small change you can make to to create a more child-friendly space?

Sensitive periods are windows of opportunity for learning. It is a time when a child naturally learns a particular skill effortlessly.

It is like something inside him is saying, “Now is the time."

Sensitive periods, when supported, shape confidence, independence, and a deep love for learning.

Watch, you might notice something beautiful unfolding.

Happy teaching!

Cheers to your success!

Locking away materials?

That quietly turns a Montessori classroom to teacher-led instead of child-led.

True Montessori lets children see, choose, and return to materials every day.

That repetition builds concentration, independence, and confidence.

Sometimes, helping too much gets in the way.

Children need to try, struggle, and repeat; that is how they build real confidence.

Let them try!

From the way we speak to the way we respond to the environment we prepare, children are taking it all in.

When the environment is right, the child needs less direction.

An enabling environment does the quiet work.

What is your classroom or home communicating to the child?

Montessori can be adapted, but not everything is flexible.

Surface-level tweaks are easy. Protecting the core is harder: uninterrupted work cycles, prepared environments, respect for independence, trained guides, mixed-age communities...

Adapt with intention. Ask yourself: “Does this still protect the child’s development?”

Save this for when you are planning or evaluating your classroom.

What is one change you have seen that looks Montessori but is not? Cheers to your success!
