Anterior or Posterior?
Understanding Placenta Position During Pregnancy
Medical Awareness
The placenta is a vital organ that supplies oxygen and nutrients to the baby during pregnancy. Its position inside the uterus can vary and is usually described as anterior or posterior.
🔹 Anterior Placenta
▪️ Placenta is attached to the front wall of the uterus
▪️ Very common and usually normal
▪️ Baby movements may be felt later or less strongly
▪️ Does not harm the baby or mother
🔹 Posterior Placenta
▪️ Placenta is attached to the back wall of the uterus
▪️ Baby movements are often felt earlier and stronger
▪️ Considered a normal and favorable position
🔹 Important Points
▪️ Placenta position is determined by ultrasound
▪️ Both anterior and posterior positions are normal
▪️ Only low-lying placenta (placenta previa) needs close monitoring
🩺 Placenta position alone is not a problem unless it covers the cervix. Always follow ultrasound reports and medical advice.
