Let’s be careful not to oversimplify success or disrespect education. The fact that a social media personality — who isn't a graduate — can afford to pay a master’s degree holder ₦500,000 monthly to hold a camera doesn’t make education useless or irrelevant.
That content creator likely built a platform through consistency, creativity, and market demand. But that doesn't cancel the value of formal education. In fact, the master's degree holder may be leveraging their knowledge — like media production, communication, or even business management — to earn that salary.
Success wears many faces. Let’s stop mocking education just because others took a different route. Not everyone wants or needs to be a social media star. And in many sectors, education remains the foundation for sustainable growth, innovation, and leadership.
Let’s celebrate both paths without pitting one against the other.
Education still remains valid!

*JAMB/UTME DEBACLE: OPINION OF A SUPERVISOR*
From my little experience in the just concluded JAMB, most of the candidates did not even know how to use a computer. In the center that I supervised, many were just staring at the computer after the announcement that they should type their registration number, login in and start exam.
When I went round to find out what could be the problem here are some answers I got:
1. I don't know how to use capital letters- that is the two alphabet at the end of their registration number.
2. I made mistake and I don't know how to delete the number.
3. I don't know the key to use and choose the answer
4. I don't know how to get to the next question
5. I don't know how to change to the next subject
6. I don't know how to submit and end the exams.
7. So many don't know how to use the mouse and the keyboard.
8. I don't know where I can find calculator on the screen and many more.
It was was so frustrating that even when you direct them to press this key or click on the mouse the person will ask you, "sir, pls where is it?" And they will do as if it will bite them.
I felt for one when I discovered that she answered only 3 questions out of 180 and she told me that she answered all the questions. I showed her on the screen. I discovered that she was not clicking on the right bullet (circle) to pick answers, that was why her questions were on red. The only three she had was the one I showed her where to click earlier since she was always raising her hands.
Most candidates are ignorant that any question answered will automatically turn from red♥️ to green 💚.
You can imagine this number of students in all the centers.
*My suggestion is that the students should be sensitized in all the schools especially those in the remote villages that have no access to computers. Even those in urban need to upgrade.*
In each session of the exams only 10% seems to know what to do and submitted on time. Many were logged out at the end of the exams with so many unanswered questions. Some were even ready to submit less than one hour into the exam.
From this experience, I think there is no exaggeration in the JAMB result as announced.
Please let's help our children and relatives. It is not by buying them big phones and spending most of their time in social media.
Let us encourage them and find out how prepared they are for the exams. Ire o.
