This year’s theme is “Promoting literacy in the digital era”, which is focused on keeping literacy as a crucial part of the technological landscape. UNESCO releases a fact sheet for the 2025 Literacy Day, highlighting that the importance of literacy reaches beyond traditional paper-based writing and reading. Rather, “it now serves as a foundation for digital skills, safe and critical engagement with digital texts and tools, and an inclusive digital transition.”

*SAFARI HUNT SPOTLIGHT: THE BULL FAMILY 🐄🐃*
Strong, steady, and full of farmyard fun—our Safari Hunt wouldn’t be complete without the Bull Family! This family of animals had our young adventurers moo-ing with excitement as they explored the world of cows, bulls, and more!
*Fun Facts About the Bull Family:*
🐄 Bulls are the fathers in the cow family—they are strong, muscular, and often have big horns!
🐮 Cows are the mothers—they give us milk and take care of their calves.
🐂 Oxen are part of the family, too! They help farmers by pulling carts and ploughs.
🌿 They eat grass all day! These animals are plant-eaters called herbivores.
On our Safari Hunt, the children observed how bulls are not just big and bold, but also play important roles in farming, family care, and food production. We talked about how milk comes from cows and how these animals help humans in many ways!
*What We Explored:*
• The difference between a bull, cow, and a calf
• What makes bulls strong and useful on farms
• The importance of animals that give us food and support our daily lives
• How farmers care for these gentle giants.
From mimicking the MOO to acting out how cows graze, our little learners had a blast stepping into the world of the bull family. And yes—there were some adorable "baby calves" on the loose too!
Ask your child what sound a cow makes and what bulls love to eat—they’ll tell you with a big smile and a bigger “MOOOO!”

A Heartfelt Thank You to Mrs. Safari Williams!
Today, our Grade 6 class had the incredible honour of hosting Mrs. Ijeoma Safari Williams — an inspiring entrepreneur and the MD/CEO of Baroque Variations Limited — for a powerful seminar on “Why We Must Spill Milk!”
Beyond the world of business and entrepreneurship, Ijeoma is a passionate humanitarian with a heart for the less privileged, women, and the girl-child. Her compassion led her to join Rotary, where she became a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) in her first year and continues to be a returning PHF to date. Her exceptional leadership and love for charity also saw her pioneer the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Blue Ocean.
Her message today was clear and impactful: mistakes aren’t failures — they’re growth in motion. She encouraged our learners to embrace every “spilt drop” as an opportunity to rise, reflect, and become better.
Thank you, Mrs. Williams, for sharing your journey, warmth, and powerful words with us. We are truly grateful for your presence and the lasting impression you’ve made on our young minds. ❤️🙌
