Donald Ekong Library The library has taken a new dimension to give our patrons better service.

The library has a collection of over 100,000 volumes, staff and students of the university also have access to journals both electronic and hard copies. With support from the MacArthur foundation the library has made strides not only in updating its collections, but also in automating the resources and services of the library. Celebrating 50 Years of Knowledge at UniPort!
The Donald E. U. Ekong Library proudly opened its 50th Anniversary cm 35th Convocation Library Exhibition with the theme “Unveiling Knowledge: A Journey Through Academic Heritage.” This special event showcases the University of Port Harcourt’s rich academic history and cultural growth over the last five decades. On display are rare manuscripts, first publications by pioneer scholars, works of emeritus professors, symbolic academic regalia, and more. It's a celebration of our shared journey in education, research, and innovation.
The exhibition was formally declared open by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, alongside other principal officers: Prof. Clifford O. Ofurum (DVC Admin), Prof. I. M. Siminialayi (DVC R&D), and Dr. Gloria O. Chindah (Registrar). Their presence, along with several distinguished dignitaries and members of the University community, added great value to this historic event.
We invite staff, students, alumni, and friends of the University to visit the exhibition at the Library. Come and explore the legacy, the growth, and the future of knowledge at UniPort.
