Your Child Can Become An Active Reader.

I say this because I know it is true, and as a parent, you have a role to play. It is not enough to take the child to school and bring him or her back from school.

I will discuss one way in this post.

Read with your Child.

The best way for children to learn anything faster and better is when they are very, very happy and also when they are young. Remember, we all came into this world with a lot of potential, and we either get groomed or discarded. So, out of your schedule, tell your child or children that for the next week we will be reading 5 pages of a book before going to bed.

Sit with them; maybe after dinner; let them be relaxed and happy. Pick up any book intentionally and read it aloud to them; let them laugh, frown, jump, sit, and move their bodies happily while enjoying the story. Then ask them what they learnt and let them learn communication from you at that time; correct their grammar, their pronunciation, and how they structure their words and sentences. You can even tell them to write it out, and you mark it, or it can be verbal; anyone you choose.

Finish that book, pick up another, and it continues. At a certain age, you will be able to hand them books, and they will finish them on their own.

You could read 50 books this year and still remain exactly the same.

Yes. You Heard Me.

You can finish one book every week.

Underline half the pages.

Highlight every sentence that sounds intelligent.

Take pictures of your books and post them online.

And still...

Remain the same person.

Because reading is not transformation.

Application of the Knowledge is.

Some people read books on productivity and still procrastinate.

Read books on finance and still mismanage money.

Read books on leadership and still struggle to lead themselves.

Read books on discipline and still wait for motivation before taking action.

The problem is not that they are not learning.

The problem is that nothing is changing.

Here is a question I want you to ask yourself after every book:

What will I do differently because of what I just learned?

Not:

"What did I enjoy?"

Not:

"What did I highlight?"

But:

"What will change?"

Knowledge becomes useful when it enters your decisions.

Your habits.

Your conversations.

Your work.

Your life.

You don't need to read another 50 books just to say you read 50 books.

Read to think differently.

Read to make better decisions.

Read to solve problems.

Read to become better.

Because the true measure of what you learn is not how much you can remember.

It's how much of it shows up in the way you live.

Don't just finish books this year.

Let some books finish the old version of you.

Before Man Was Created, Food Was Available, Yet Man had to Work. WHY?

Man was told to be Fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have Dominion. Yes, man would also work for food, but that was not the primary reason for being created.

Are you currently just working so that you will eat? Or are you fruitful? Multiplying, replenishing the earth? Subduing it? And having dominion? Even in the sphere where you find yourself?
