🌍✨ Earlier this May, Alliance Française Port Harcourt organized the participation of its students in the Le Défi Inter-Alliance 2026 competition!

Following a local selection held in Port Harcourt, the two best students from Alliance Française Port Harcourt were selected to continue to the next stage of the competition.

They then represented Port Harcourt in a regional competition bringing together three Alliances Françaises from Ghana and Alliance Française Port Harcourt.

We are proud to announce that one of our students won 🥇 first place in this stage of the competition and has officially qualified for the semi-finals of the Africa-Middle East zone!

📅 On May 23rd, she will proudly represent both Alliance Française Port Harcourt and Nigeria against candidates from many countries across Africa and the Middle East.

If she succeeds in reaching the top places once again, she may qualify for the international competition and compete for one of the six trips to Brussels 🇧🇪✨

Congratulations to our brilliant candidates and best of luck to our finalist! 🇳🇬💙🤍❤️

🌸 Discover the Alliance Française Garden! 🌿

Every week, we highlight one of the beautiful plants growing in our garden, a project created by volunteer students from the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) during their internship at the Alliance Française Port Harcourt.
Each plant tells a story and helps you learn French in a fun and different way! 🇫🇷✨
You can explore the garden in two ways:
1️⃣ By visiting the Alliance Française and scanning the QR codes next to the plants.
2️⃣ Or by exploring our website.
In both cases, you’ll find the same bilingual descriptions, French first, to practise your reading comprehension, then English to confirm your understanding. 🌱

🎬 Join us for a special screening of Speak Up for Freedom
IFRA , Alliance Française Port Harcourt, and Art in the Garden City .ng, with the support of Institut Français , invite you to an exceptional documentary screening on Monday, June 1st at 1:00 PM at Alliance Française Port Harcourt.
🎟️ Free entry – open to everyone

Directed by Clément Sibony, Speak Up for Freedom follows Nigerian women survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation as they reclaim their voices through theatre. Through the inspiring work of Mission of Intervention and Sensitisation against Trafficking , the documentary explores resilience, resistance, and the power of storytelling.
The film sheds light on the realities of human trafficking affecting Nigerian women in Europe. In the absence of legal justice, six women create a fictional trial on stage, transforming silence and pain into strength and collective action.

Following the screening, we will be honoured to welcome:
✨ Élodie Apard – Board member of MIST and coordinator of the Life After Trafficking project
✨ Flora Enifo – Co-founder and Community Manager of MIST

📍 Venue: Alliance Française Port Harcourt
