The Nigerian Girl Guides Association (NGGA), Rivers State Chapter, held a one-day training camp on Saturday, 15 August, at the Rivers State Headquarters, 74 Forces Avenue, Old G.R.A., Port Harcourt, as part of activities marking its 107th anniversary. With the theme “107 Years of Impact, Growth & Guiding Excellence,” the programme focused on personal development, leadership, teamwork, discipline, service, and the Guiding values of the Association.
The programme featured training sessions, DIY workshops, energizers, fun activities, team-building exercises, and a campfire session. These activities provided Guides with opportunities to acquire practical skills, develop confidence and leadership abilities, strengthen cooperation and communication, and build friendships in an enjoyable and supportive environment. The campfire also provided a special opportunity for fellowship, Guiding games, interaction, and celebration.
The 107th anniversary served as both a celebration of the Association’s long history and an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to developing responsible, confident, and capable young women. The programme demonstrated the importance of combining values-based leadership with practical training, teamwork, recreation, and service. The guiding message, “Guided by Values, Empowered to Lead!”, aptly captured the purpose of the event and its commitment to preparing Guides for greater responsibility and positive contributions to society.
To crown the event was the burning of the camp fire and launching of our website Riversstategirlguide.com.ng.
