Yesterday, some ladies and I were talking about our phobia for gas cookers and electricity. Why? Sadly, I believe in a second, everything can go wrong. When I see shops on the street refilling gas cylinders and electricity poles, I race past them.
However, later in the day I remembered a greater phobia was even the policemen, we encounter daily on our streets the way at which they wield guns; carelessly and scary .
I like gist, but you see, if I am on the street and see officers and people gathering to know whats happening, I'm racing in the opposite direction. Me, police and guns? Not happening!
I can't say the police is my enemy but you see that friend part? let's just leave it. The stories I hear, the things I read, the way I see them carry themselves at checkpoints and traffic gridlocks, I cant help but shudder, "how can I be friends with these people"? In the dictionary, I just see the word 'police' no distinction between Nigerian police and other nations' police. So why so different? When I see vacation pictures to other climes, part of the tourist pictures are posing with police officers, is the same obtainable with ours? I have always known that the duty of police officers is to maintain peace and order. Why do ours maim, cause havoc and chaos?
I agree with everyone who says it's not just but .
We can't keep living in fear for our brothers, husbands, cousins, nephews, friends .......the female gender isn't even left out of the scourge.
I join the cause and I demand
