From Sketch to Solid: 3D Modeling a Mechanical Component in AutoCAD

Today, I’m excited to share a of a mechanical component I created using .
The process of building a precise 3D model always starts with a strong 2D foundation.

Here’s a breakdown of the tools I used:

2D Tools:
Line: To create the basic outlines of the component.

Circle: For perfect round features like holes and shafts.

Arc: For smooth curves and connections.

Trim/Extend: To clean up and fine-tune the sketches.

Offset: To create parallel lines and features easily.

3D Tools:
- Extrude: To give thickness and depth to the 2D sketches.

- Fillet (3D): For rounding sharp edges in 3D.

- Union, Subtract, Intersect**: To shape and combine 3D solids.

-3D Orbit: To view the model from every angle.

- Materials and Rendering: To give the model a professional finish.

Why This Matters:

- Starting with clean ensures a more accurate .

- Understanding both 2D and 3D tools gives you full control over your designs.

- 3D models help visualize, improve, and communicate design ideas clearly.
