KINESTHETIC LEARNERS are learners who learn by doing, in order words, they learn through activities. Almost all children are Kinesthetic Learners. When a child learns by doing, critical thinking is required and developed because he/she has to think and figure things out for themselves.
Children who are primarily Kinesthetic Learners are usually left behind in traditional classrooms using instructional method of teaching. They are usually the ones who are tagged as 'dull' and almost always struggle with learning no matter how hard the teacher tries. Many drop out of school to learn a skill, where they usually excel.
The child doesn't learn because the teacher told him/her (rote learning or memorization) but learning takes place through a process of discovery. Hence the knowledge gained becomes the child's and is retained.
Pupils learning COMPOUND WORDS by putting together two small words to make new ones. They don't just recite words written by the teacher. They make theirs from given words. It also builds and increases their vocabulary.
