Ten points, I would like to highlight from the Chrisland saga.

I am sure most of you must have heard of the Chrisland saga of a minor involved in s*xual acts. Well,as an Educator who have handled kids over the years,I have 10points to note,I hope you learn from it.

Point 1:
The first person to blame is the parents of both kids. Those kids were already exposed to some things,they just manifested it,in an environment that was conducive.

Point 2:
Those kids have in one way or the other been s*xually abused without their parents knowing. It looked like that was not the first time.

Point 3:
It was not r**e as we know but statutory r**e as I was corrected because it was 2 minors engaging in s*xual acts.

Point 4:
Chrisland failed in ensuring those kids were protected. When I am assigned to watch over people's kids,you dont sleep and snore assuming everyone is sleeping,you must do random checks. I do not joke with people's children.

Point 5:
We all forget,we were kids before. We played silly plays like mummy and daddy and the likes and in such plays, if not supervised, things can happen. In other words,closely supervise children. You will do yourself great harm to assume. It is even more dangerous now,teenagers are involved in acts adults don't know about.

Point 6:
Teach your child s*x education and stop assuming. If you do not teach your child,I can bet you social media will,the only problem is, they will give you their own curriculum and you know what that means.

Point 7:
What do we expose our kids to? When I was a child,we borrow movies from video clubs,if my Father catches you watching 🔞movies,he will treat you nicely☹️.These days things are hardly censored,you cannot be discussing things like BBnaija all day and you think your kids won't be inquisitive to know what it is. They would want to know more and be part of the discussion. You can't be playing some songs in children's parties and think it has no consequences. Music is influential.

Point 8:
The use of social media and mobile devices. We need to help guide kids on the use of such. Media is a powerful tool in today's world. It controls everything. Your child at a particular age doesn't need to have an internet enabled phone. I have seen a father give his teen son a phone but forgot to delete nudes and the likes of his side chicks 😥😥. Alot went through my mind.

Point 9:
The day an extra human in the form of brother,sister or cousins come to stay with you,please give them pre-warning about s*xual vices in your house. Tell them no be fight o but you prefer to warn them before hand. There is nothing like,it is the work of the devil,the day they misbehave you will forgive them but they must be jailed. Extended families and friends s*xually abuse our kids without us knowing. Start the trouble and conversation before e start,you can do it directly or indirectly.

Point 10:
The best of all, pray for your child,like no man's business. Expose your child to godliness. Some of us are sustained today by the prayer of our parents, we are blessed today because of our godly upbringing. Why are we changing the old landmarks?
We are focusing on giving our kids what we didn't have (material things) and forgetting to give them what we had (godly upbringing and values).

Teach Morals

We spend so much time teaching kids to score high grades and become the best in their classes.
Bagging 7-9 As in WASSCE and other external exams, but we fail to give moral education to these same kids.
We fail to teach them to treat humans as humans.
We fail to teach them values.
If the kids that bully in schools were given moral education from elementary levels I don't think they will commit such inhumanity.

How children learn + what children learn = meaningful education.
