Yesterday was a deeply fulfilling day as I had the privilege of being the keynote speaker at an academic seminar organized by the Revival Youth Fellowship of Our Saviour's Chapel Uniport, Nigeria.

Engaging with these brilliant students and sharing insights on how Christian students can excel in their academics was both enlightening and heartwarming. Here are some of the strategies I discussed:

1. Cultivating a Growth Mindset: The foundation for any academic journey.

2. Embracing a Life of Prayer and Faith: The anchor that sustains us through challenges.

3. Mastering Time Management and Study Skills: Essential tools for effective learning.

4. Nurturing a Sense of Purpose and Clear Goals: Your roadmap to success.

5. Navigating the University System: Understanding the terrain you're in.

6. Leveraging Your Support System: My personal favorite, with a profound emphasis on God as the ultimate support system for students.

As an academic coach, I take profound joy in imparting knowledge, particularly within faith-based institutions. It serves as a powerful reminder that education isn't solely about acquiring knowledge; it's a transformative journey that nurtures both the mind and spirit, ultimately equipping us to fulfill our God-given purpose.

You've probably met him at the beginning of a new project, vision or when making resolution to change. He fires you up with new ideas and drive towards all the great things you could achieve...

Sounds great right?

I know...you may be wondering what could be wrong?

𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 😂.

From.....the newly admitted undergraduate that resolves to study for 14 hours every day.
..The newly wed wife that vows to prepare freshly cooked meals daily for the love of her life.
..The countless resolutions we set at the beginning of the new year.

To... the newbie writer that wants to write five hours at a stretch daily.

No doubt the goals I mentioned above are good.

But after the initial excitement wears off, the motivation monkey waves you good bye😅.

Raise your hand if some of your new year's resolution have gone through the drain🙋🙋

It's not surprising that many are on this table.

"The motivation monkey tricks us into setting unreasonable goals. He sometimes helps us to reach amazing heights, but he will often abandon us when we need him the most"

We are then left with the burden of consistently following through with the necessary behaviours needed to achieve our desired goals or aspirations.
