ADON VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL ACADEMY OZUBULU HOLDS 2025 CONVOCATION & 4th MATRICULATION CEREMONY

Adon Vocational and Technical Academy, Ozubulu, on Friday, December 5th, 2025, held a combined Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony, marking another milestone in its commitment to raising highly skilled and industry-ready graduates.

The event witnessed the convocation of several students who successfully completed their training in various vocational and technical fields, while new students were formally matriculated into the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony was graced by His Lordship, The Rt. Revd. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi (JP), Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi and Proprietor of Adon Vocational and Technical Academy. His presence added colour and dignity to the occasion as he blessed the graduands and welcomed the new students to the academy.

Convocation Lecture

The Convocation Lecture, delivered by Ven. Dr. C. C. Chukwurah, emphasized that “the purpose of education is not merely to gain employment, but to educate and shape the mind.”
He stressed the importance of vocational learning in nation-building and challenged the graduands to become creators of opportunities rather than seekers of white-collar jobs.

Registrar’s Address

In her address on behalf of the school management, the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Stephanie Ike, ANIPR, highlighted significant achievements recorded by the institution within the year. These include:

Full NBTE Accreditation as an approved skills training centre

Partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education (TVET Program) through which over 100 youths are currently being trained

Partnership with IYCON Foundation in the training of 40 young men across different vocational and technical fields

Collaboration with Young Africa in expanding practical learning exposure

Federal Ministry of Education / IDEAS World Bank Project Collaboration, training 100 youths in poultry production

She reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and community-based empowerment.

Board Chairman’s Remarks

In his speech, the Board Chairman, Engr. Chineme C. Ofoma, congratulated both the new and graduating students, urging the matriculants to embrace discipline, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence throughout their academic journey.
To the graduating students, he encouraged them to walk confidently into the world, knowing they carry with them the solid training and values of Adon VOTECH.

Engr. Ofoma further emphasized the Board’s resolve to strengthen the institution through improved infrastructure, modern training equipment, stronger industry partnerships, and continuous enhancement of teaching quality ensuring that students graduate with globally competitive skills and the confidence to succeed.

Exhibition & Special Recognition

The ceremony featured an impressive exhibition from various departments, showcasing the creativity, craftsmanship, and technical competence of students.

A memorable highlight of the event occurred when the Proprietor and Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Revd. Ndubuisi Obi, encouraged a student from the Building and Technology Department with a cash gift of ₦200,000 after the student presented a magnificent architectural model that stood out during the exhibition.

The Bishop applauded the academy for maintaining high standards in skill training and urged students to remain focused, diligent, and committed to excellence.

The academy honoured several distinguished personalities whose contributions have strengthened technical and vocational education:

HRM Igwe Kenneth Orizu III, Igwe of Nnewi - “Vanguard of Vocational Renaissance”

Hon. Ejim Emmanuel Ucheagwu, PG, Nnewi Youth Forum - “Innovative Leader”

Chief Ifeanyi Ekwulugo, Founder, IYCON Foundation - “Icon of Entrepreneurial Development”

High Chief Kenneth Ifekudu (Agbalanze Onyekachukwu, Ife Ozubulu) - “Humanitarian Service Award”

These recognitions underline the academy’s gratitude to individuals empowering youths and driving vocational advancement.

The ceremony also celebrated outstanding achievers within the school community. Various students received awards for:

SUG Leadership Recognition Awards

Best Staff of the Year and so on.
