You dont need prior knowledge of bioinformatics to participate and your performance in the pre assessment survey is not a criteria for choosing participants. It is to have an idea of knowledge of participants before the workshop.

Four-Hour Workshop on November 26, 2021,
1 pm to 5 pm West Africa Time (WAT) / 8 am to 12 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST, USA)

The University of Ibadan Bioinformatics Group (UIBG) is a Node of the H3Africa Bioinformatics Network (H3ABioNet). The H3ABioNet UIBG Node is responsible for the Train-the-Trainer Project of the Education and Training Work Package.

In 2021, a collaboration between the University of Ibadan Bioinformatics Group (UIBG), Nigeria and the Trans-Disciplinary Data Scholars Development Program (TDSDP) at Bethune-Cookman University, USA resulted in Adventure-Based Learning of Bioinformatics Data Investigation that provides learning activities on:
(1) bioinformatics knowledge categories,
(2) how to conduct bioinformatics investigations,
(3) principles of adventure-based learning,
(4) how to design bioinformatics instruction with considerations for motivation profiles of students, and
(5) career, workforce and leadership development in bioinformatics; data science; data science education and related areas.

You are invited to participate a four-hour adventure-based learning of Bioinformatics Data Investigations. Please register and complete the pre-adventure workshop activities.

Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Identify bioinformatics research categories.
2. Explain the stages of bioinformatics data investigation.
3. Conduct a bioinformatics data investigation.
4. Identify strategies for designing and delivering learning adventures.

The Learning Adventures in Bioinformatics Data Investigations is a research activity and involves confidential data collection including learning transactions, discussions, completing of surveys. You participation is voluntary. Data will be analyzed at the group level and no participants will be identified.
