10 THINGS YOU MUST TEACH YOUR CHILD BEFORE AGE 10 ( (pay attention to numbers 1 and 10)
By Bisi adewale

Dear Parent, Please Teach your Children These 10 Things Before Age 10 Get to work now, teach your Because by the time they turn 10, the window of deep imprinting starts to close and it will close so fast you will have a Teenager in your hand which you may not be able to handle, let me show you these ten things, (please share this let help all Parents worldwide) here we go:

1. Teach Them to Know and Fear God
Children must grow knowing that there is a God who created them, loves them, and watches over them. Teach them to pray, to honour God, and to obey His Word.Let them see you worship, pray, and read your Bible — not just on Sundays, but daily. When they fear God, they’ll resist evil even when you're not watching.
“Train up a child in the way he should go...” – Proverbs 22:6

2. Teach Them Respect and Manners
Respect is the foundation of all healthy relationships.Teach them to say “please,” “thank you,” “sorry,” and “excuse me.”Show them how to greet people properly, how to behave in public, how to sit properly in gatherings, and how to show respect to elders. When a child grows up with manners, they are welcomed everywhere.
Good manners open doors that money cannot.

3. Teach Them to Express Their Feelings
Let your child know it’s okay to say, “I’m sad,” “I’m afraid,” or “I don’t know.”If you punish or silence them when they try to talk, they’ll shut down emotionally — and that wound will carry into adulthood.Encourage honest conversations and be their safe place.A child who understands and manages their emotions will grow into a peaceful, mature adult.
Don’t raise a child who hides pain with a smile.

4. Teach Them the Value of Money
Let them understand early that money doesn’t grow on trees.Give them small savings goals. Teach them to save, give, and spend wisely.Explain the difference between needs and wants. When they learn this, they won’t grow up entitled or reckless with money.
It’s easier to teach a child to manage ₦100 than to fix a broke adult who earns ₦100,000 and wastes it all.

5. Teach Them Chores and Responsibility
Don’t do everything for them. Let them pack their toys, clean their shoes, set the table, and sweep their room.Yes, it takes more time. Yes, they’ll make mistakes. But that’s the point. You’re teaching them to be responsible, not perfect.
They may complain now… but they’ll thank you in their 20s.

6. Teach Them Personal Hygiene
Teach them to brush their teeth, bathe well, wear clean underwear, wash their hands, and take care of their appearance.Personal hygiene builds confidence and reduces health issues.Don’t assume they’ll learn it in school — teach it at home.
Cleanliness is not about impressing others; it’s about self-respect.

7. Teach Them to Protect Their Body
Your child must know that certain parts of the body are private and no one should touch them there.Use age-appropriate language, but don’t avoid the conversation.Let them know they must speak up immediately if anyone — even a relative or family friend — makes them feel uncomfortable.Silence around this topic can lead to abuse.
Empower them with knowledge. It may save their life.

8. Teach Them to Be Kind and Share
Teach them that they don’t always have to win. Let them give their toys, help others, and care about people’s feelings.Model it — show kindness in how you treat them and others.Kindness is not weakness; it’s strength. It shapes how they will love their siblings, spouses, and friends in future.
A selfish child often becomes a selfish adult.

9. Teach Them How to Apologize and Forgive
Don’t make your child think they’re perfect. Let them learn to say, “I was wrong, I’m sorry.”Also, teach them to forgive — to let go and move on.Many adults today are wounded because no one taught them to forgive or admit fault.
This one skill can save their friendships, marriage, and career in future.

10. Teach Them That Life Is Not Always Easy – But Quitting Is Not the Answer
Let them try again when they fail. Encourage them to be persistent — from schoolwork to tying their shoelaces.Life is tough, but strong children become resilient adults.Every time they overcome a small challenge, they grow in confidence.
Don’t fix everything for them — teach them how to fix things for themselves.

Final Word to Every Parent:
Your child may forget what toy you bought them at age 7, But they will NEVER forget the values you placed in their heart.
Be intentional. Be present. Be loving. Be bold. You are shaping someone’s future, someone’s spouse, someone’s parent — someone’s leader.
