RUGIPO RECTOR COMMISSIONS FACULTY BUILDING FOR SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STUDIES

The Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Mr. Gani Ogundahunsi has assured staff and students of the institution of the Management’s resolve to continue to offer its best to move the polytechnic forward.

The Rector stated this on Thursday, 10th March, 2022 during the commissioning ceremony of the newly constructed Faculty of Business Studies building. He said, with the completion of some of the on going building projects in the institution ,the Polytechnic would wear a new look befitting an ideal 21st century citadel of learning . The structures will offer our students a conducive learning atmosphere and also enhance staff productivity. He opined that a 2.5 km road that will link up the Central Admistrative Complex, Faculty of Business Studies and the Principal officers quarters would soon kick off.

He seized the occasion to inform the audience also that management is set to venture into commercial ranching at the western part of the campus to raise herds of animals.

While thanking God for the opportunity to start, complete and to commission the project before a hand over of the building constructed with the help of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) for the use of the institution particularly the Faculty of Business Studies, Mr. Ogundahunsi charged the Dean of the Faculty, Dr Ayodele Owoputi and all beneficiaries of the building including staff and students to make judicious use of it.

The Rector also used the occasion to appreciate the Governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu,(SAN) for his constant support to the institution.

In his response,the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies,Dr.Ayodele Owoputi thanked God who has made the completion of the building possible in the time of the Rector and appreciated the Management for their support in making the day a reality.

The construction of the Faculty of Business Studies building which stated in June 2000 was made possible through an High impact fund from the Tetfund.

Present at the commissioning and handing over ceremony were: the Deputy Rector (Academics), Mr. Olorunwa Adegun; Registrar, Mr. Sule Atiku,the Polytechnic Librarian Mrs.Racheal Aladeniyi,Director of Physical Planning, Bldr. T. J. Lawalson; Director of Procurement, Dr. Olugbenga Jinadu; Administrative Assistant to the Rector, Mr. Joseph Ilugbami, Heads of departments in the Faculty and other guests.

NOTICE OF RESUMPTION FOR 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION

This is to inform the general public, and in particular all students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo that Management has approved that the 2021/2022 Academic Session begins on Monday, 14th March, 2022.

Consequently, all Fresh students (ND I and HND I students) are to note that Screening and Registration processes will commence on the same day of resumption.

Meanwhile, all returning students are requested to resume to school on Monday, 28th March, 2022, as all academic activities resume immediately for the new session.

RUGIPO ALUMNI COMMISSIONS SIGNAGE

The Alumni Association, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, in a bid to give back to its alma mater, has commissioned a huge signage erected at the Polytechnic second gate.

The National President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Femi Ehinola, while speaking during the commissioning on Friday, 25th June, 2021, said it became necessary to erect the signage to make Rugipo as a citadel of learning unique among its contemporaries.
He noted that with the signage in place, the existence of the polytechnic is more pronounced to passers-by and enhances the public image of the Institution .

He disclosed that the four million (N4,000,000.00) naira signage project was one of the many projects lined up for ex*****on by the Alumni Association. According to him, the Alumni Association is set to renovate a multipurpose hall within the polytechnic in the next few months.

While thanking all members of the Association for their support and cooperation, he called on all well-to-do members of the Association to strive to give back to the Institution in every way possible.
Mr. Ehinola also appreciated the Management for its support to the Association and for offering a purposeful leadership .

Speaking during the commissioning, the Chairman of the Commissioning Committee, Engr. Dayo Akindoju, a senior member of the Abuja Chapter of the Association, who was represented by the Chairman, Board of Trustee of the RUGIPO Alumni Association, Prof. Isaac Babatunde Oluwalana, thanked the Executives of the Association for the project, which he described as monumental.

Prof. Oluwalana, who described it as a special grace to witness the feat as a member of the first set of graduates of the Institution, commended the Federal government scrapping of the dichotomy between HND and BSc holders.

In his address, the Rector, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Mr. Gani Adebola Ogundahunsi, who was represented by the Deputy Rector (Admin and Development), Engr. (Dr.) Samuel Alagha, also commended the Alumni for the lofty idea of constructing the signage and for organising the sporting activities, considering the position of sports in human and socio-economic development of our youths.

While unveiling the plaque during the commissioning, Prof. Oluwalana said he believed that the structure would further edify the Polytechnic as passers-by cannot overlook it.

RUGIPO ALUMNI DONATES SIGNAGE

The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Alumni Association under the able leadership of Mr. Femi Ehinola has achieved another giant stride by constructing a befitting signage at the Institution’s second gate.

Speaking on the signage on Wednesday, 23 June 2021, Mr. Ehinola, said its construction is one of the Alumni Association ways of giving back to the alma mater. He stated that the signage was intended to reflect the institution’s internal transformation and to instil in the hearts of students the passion for their alma mater and the Alumni Association. He further said it was also fitting to construct the huge signage to provide enhanced recognition and public image to the institution in the mind of passers-by and visitors.

According to him, the mounting of the signage which appears to be the first of its kind in the comity of sister tertiary institution around us, would also add to the aesthetic features of the Institution’s second gate which incidentally is the gateway to the institution’s giant stride in infrastructural development.

In complementing the giant stride of the Governing Council and Management towards NIPOGA Games which is in the offing, the alumni in being proactive has organised varying sporting activities in the Institution with a view to sourcing for capable athletes in all the faculties of study in the Institution. The games, apart from creating peaceful co-existence, healthiness and social rapport among the students, will go in a long way to curb students’ restiveness and other nefarious activities.

Meanwhile, the commissioning of the signage slated for Friday, 25th June, 2021 will be performed by an alumnus and the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Engr. Dayo Akindoju.
