Have you noticed the increasing conversations around depression, anxiety, hopelessness, and even su***de among young people today?

Not long ago, there was the heartbreaking story of a student who reportedly took their own life after failing an examination.

And it raises an important question:

What exactly are we preparing our children for?

For years, many of us were taught how to pass examinations, pursue success, and chase good grades. But life is much more than that.

Did we teach them that life comes with curves and bends?
Did we teach them that disappointment is not the end?
Did we teach them how to cope with failure, manage emotions, ask for help, solve problems, and rise again after setbacks?

Because the truth is, life will not always go according to plan.

Children need more than academic excellence. They need emotional intelligence. They need healthy mindsets. They need confidence. They need coping skills, they need love and care. They need resilience.

Resilience is a skill. Emotional intelligence is a skill. Problem-solving is a skill. Empathy is a skill, Leadership is a skill.

And skills can be taught.

We do not want to keep losing our children to hopelessness. Neither do we want them constantly overwhelmed by the unexpected simply because no one prepared them for life beyond the classroom.

Let us give our children more than report cards.
