Prayer for the Dead

O God, whose mercy is beyond measure, receive with kindness the soul of your servant, Rev. Monsignor Josaphat Obiajunwa, whom you have called from this world to yourself.

Forgive whatever sins he may have committed through human weakness, and grant him the reward of his faithful service in your vineyard. May he who dedicated his life to the formation of priests, the proclamation of the Gospel, and the service of your Church, now behold you face to face in the glory of heaven.

May the angels lead him into paradise; may the martyrs welcome him at his coming, and may he take his place in the heavenly Jerusalem.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.

Amen.
